Tickets for the Gaiety Theatre go on sale tomorrow, Friday 4 March, from 10am for Irish National Opera's new production of Donizetti's magnificently stirring Maria Stuarda.

I Capuleti e i Montecchi, opera by V. Bellini, will be performed in April at Theatro Sao Pedro. With libretto by Felice Romani, the opera is not based on Shakespeare's famous text. Staged by Antonio Araujo and musical direction by Alessandro Sangiorgi, the cast includes singers Denise de Freitas (Romeo) and Carla Cottini (Giullietta).

The Metropolitan Opera will present an audacious new production of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, which moves the bel canto masterpiece from 18th-century Scotland to a present-day town in the American Rust Belt, with nine performances April 23–May 21, 2022.

Mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato brings her latest innovative project to Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage on Saturday, April 23 at 8:00 p.m. Titled EDEN, the program explores our individual connection to nature and its impact on our world and features Ms. DiDonato’s frequent collaborators Maxim Emelyanychev leading Italian chamber orchestra Il Pomo d’Oro. Fusing music, movement, and theater, the program includes works spanning from the 17th to the 21st century by Handel, Gluck, Wagner, Mahler, Ives, and Copland, as well as the New York premiere of Academy Award-winning composer Rachel Portman’s The First Morning of the World, commissioned specifically for this project.

Brainstorm Records announces the April 23rd release of Vocalist Maureen Taylor’s recording: Maureen Taylor: Cosmic Connections – The Lyrics of Michael Colby. The collaboration between Taylor and Colby will feature nineteen Colby songs. The album will be available for streaming and purchase on all the major music outlets (as well as a limited number of CDs for purchase at the release party).

The Walter W. Naumburg presents ERIN WAGNER, mezzo-soprano, the winner of the 2021 Naumburg Vocal Award,  on Tuesday, April 19 at 7:30pm in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.

Lincoln Center Theater has announced its upcoming production of Epiphany, a new play by Brian Watkins, directed by Tyne Rafaeli.  Epiphany will begin previews Thursday, May 19 and open on Thursday, June 16 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street).

Teatro Nuovo, the innovative young company that brought New York its first opera performances since the pandemic shutdown, today announced its return to full indoor activity in July 2022 with Rossini's towering Maometto Secondo and Bellini's beloved La Sonnambula. The pair of operas will be performed July 9 and 10 at Montclair State University (New Jersey) and July 13 and 14 at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater. 

Tacoma Arts Live's Regional Theater Program presents Anna in the Tropics, a poignant and poetic play that garnered the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for then unknown Cuban-American playwright Nilo Cruz. Anna will open for a preview on Thursday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m., plus seven additional performances through April 10 at Tacoma's Theater on the Square.

In alignment with new local and national guidance from the Milwaukee Health Department and the CDC, many of Milwaukee’s performing arts organizations will no longer require COVID-19 vaccinations or proof of negative test within 72 hours of events for all audience members attending performances beginning on March 14, 2022.
