BWW Review: Mad Theatre of Tampa Presents a Blissful IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU at the Shimberg
by Peter Nason - Jul 23, 2018

IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU, the joyous wedding day musical presented by Mad Theatre of Tampa, doesn't have a bad thought in its head. At times we wonder if it has any thought in its head, but rest assured, any thoughts it does have are good. The show contains some of the most mindless fun I've had at any musical of late; it's a guaranteed good time. Imagine the tickle of champagne bubbles in your nose, and that's the feeling you get while watching it. Giddy, goofy elation.

BWW Review: Theatre in the Park's Funny IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU Rides on the Coattails of Standout Comedic Performances
by Lauren Van Hemert - Jun 16, 2018

You are cordially invited to Theatre in the Park (TIP) for the wedding of Brian Howard and Rebecca Steinberg.  But before you pop the cork on that bottle of champagne, or dance the Hora, the bride and groom might have something to share. IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU opened on Broadway in 2015, after a 2011 run at The George Street Theater Playhouse in New Jersey, where it was the highest-grossing production in the theater's 40-year history. And that's because although the musical rom-com is somewhat hokey and formulaic, it is also very funny. TIP's cast effortlessly sing their way through Barbara Anselmi and Brian Hargrove's catchy and cheery score. But it's the standout comedic performances that make TIP's production work. Ultimately, IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU is about family and the craziness that ensues when you bring two families from different backgrounds together through wedded bliss. And judging by the glowing response of the audience opening night, TIP's walk down the aisle is sure to be the social event of its season.

The Studio Theatre Tierra Del Sol Announces Third Season Line Up
by A.A. Cristi - Apr 13, 2018

At some point in all of our lives we have felt like an outsider, like no one will ever accept us for who we are. We have all experienced that constant struggle between conforming to societal norms and the desire to fully express oneself. This year at The Studio Theatre we will look closely at all the wonderful things that make us different. But I hope that what we'll find is that those differences are the very things that bind us all together as human beings. We have selected four stories that share a common theme of searching for your true individuality. These stories will delve deeply into the experiences of those who feel that who they truly are will not be accepted by society. In Season Three we are having a party, a party of differences. Announcing The Studio Theatre Tierra del Sol's Third Season: "Individuality: Celebrate the Difference."-Whitney Morse, Artistic Director
