On Thursday, August 5, the 32nd annual Seaside Summer Concert Series at Asser Levy/Seaside Park, hosted by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, will welcome singer, songwriter and actor John Legend, who performed at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert Series in 2008. The Seaside Summer Concert Series at Coney Island and Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert Series in Crown Heights/Central Brooklyn have entertained hundreds of thousands of residents over the past three decades and remain the largest free concert series in the New York metropolitan area.

On Thursday, July 29, the 32nd annual Seaside Summer Concert Series at Asser Levy/Seaside Park, hosted by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, will feature George Thorogood & The Destroyers and Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.

On Monday, August 2, the 28th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series at Wingate Field, hosted by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, will feature a tribute to old school hip-hop, including Salt-N-Pepa, Naughty By Nature and Slick Rick.

On Monday, July 26, the 28th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert Series at Wingate Field in Crown Heights/Central Brooklyn, hosted by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, will feature the soulful sounds of Musiq Soulchild and Crisette Michele.

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz announced today that Brooklyn Borough Hall will be illuminated in blue and white on August 26 in observance of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mother Teresa and the colors of her religious order.

On Saturday, April 17, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will join Megan Kerrigan of Marine Park at Brooklyn Borough Hall as hundreds of free couture prom dresses are distributed to deserving high school girls. Kerrigan has been handing out donated dresses since 2001, and this is the first time the event has been held in her home borough of Brooklyn. Kerrigan expects more than 1,700 girls from 35 Brooklyn schools and beyond to attend.

Today the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation released a Request for Expressions of Interest in the operation of a 5,000-seat performing arts facility to be located at site of the historic bandshell in Asser Levy Park, which will be upgraded as part of the major Asser Levy Park rehabilitation project.
