Today, July 13, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz hosted a public celebration at Borough Hall Plaza to welcome Brooklyn's Backcourt-Deron Williams and Joe Johnson-and give fans an opportunity to visit The EXPERIENCE, the Brooklyn Nets/Barclays Center interactive mobile unit. On Thursday, July 12, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz presented a proclamation to Coney Island resident Lawrence Bowers prior to the Seaside Summer Concert Series, honoring him for rescuing a man and child off Coney Island this summer.

Beginning tonight, July 12, and through August 20, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will host the 34th annual Seaside Summer Concert Series at Coney Island and the 30th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series at Wingate Field in Crown Heights.

On Thursday, July 19, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will join entertainer Ben Vereen, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for a day of events at Borough Hall as part of the 2012 "Lighten Up Brooklyn" campaign, an anti-obesity and healthy lifestyle initiative launched by BP Markowitz eleven years ago.

Beginning July 12 and through August 20, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will host the 34th annual Seaside Summer Concert Series at Coney Island and the 30th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series at Wingate Field in Crown Heights.

On Thursday, June 21, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Deputy Borough President Sandra Chapman and the Caribbean-American Heritage Month Committee hosted the 7th annual Caribbean-American Heritage Month festivities at Brooklyn Borough Hall. Events of the day included music and dance performances, a marketplace, film screenings, an economic development power brunch and a tasting of Caribbean food. On Thursday, May 24, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg to kick off the summer season in Coney Island with the announcement of two brand new thrill rides and the beginning of seven-day-a-week amusement operations. Later, BP Markowitz was on hand with actor Tony Danza as John "Cha Cha" Ciarcia celebrated the opening of several new amusements and eateries.
