Emergent Arts will present the comedy The Complete History of America (abridged) by Adam Long, Reed Martin, and Austin Tichenor, at The Mix Studio Theater, 8 N. Washington, Ypsilanti, Michigan. The play opens Today July 2 at 8pm, and runs July 3-6, 10-13, and 17-20, Thursday through Saturday at 8pm, and Sunday at 2pm. Tickets are $12 General Admission, $10 Seniors and Students with ID.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) will be celebrating its 35th season with a black-tie gala tonight, June 21. Congresswoman Nicola Tsongas will present the Paul Tsongas Award to UMass Lowell Chancellor Marty Meehan in recognition of his long-time personal support and his continued work to build and expand MRT's partnership with UMass Lowell. The event will also feature the Reduced Shakespeare Company presenting 'The Complete History of MRT (abridged),' a 10-minute sketch created especially for this event.

Lookingglass Theatre Company announces an extension of In the Garden: A Darwinian Love Story, the World-Premiere production by Artistic Associate Sara Gmitter and directed by Jessica Thebus. The show now runs through Sunday, June 29, 2014. The two-week extension goes on sale to the public on Thursday, May 15, 2014. The Reduced Shakespeare Company finally tackles the subject of comedy, condensing the complete history (abridged) into a concise two-hour package that doesn't miss a trick. From cavemen to clowns, shtick to Stooges, and Seinfeld to the Supreme Court, there's something for everyone in the myriad sketches offered up by this trio of talented comedians. With the exception of the mention of a few of George Carlin's infamous seven words, THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF COMEDY (ABRIDGED) at Merrimack Repertory Theatre is good family entertainment and the kids might even learn to appreciate the pioneers of the art form.

Last week a theatre in Northern Ireland cancelled the Reduced Shakespeare Company scheduled performance of The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged) on religious grounds.

The Reduced Shakespeare Company (RSC) is pulling out all of the comedy weapons in its oversized arsenal to set off a laugh riot at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. The RSC, which has been rapidly reducing expectations since 1981, is premiering its ninth stage show, THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF COMEDY (abridged), from Nov. 9 to Dec. 29 in the Playhouse's Thompson Shelterhouse Theatre.

Amphibian Stage Productions opens its third main stage production of the 2013 season, The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged) by Adam Long, Reed Martin, and Austin Tichenor, next week at the company's home on South Main Street. Luke Longacre, Brandon J. Murphy, and Scott Zenreich star in this irreverent comedy, running tonight, July 11 through Sunday, August 11. Jay Duffer directs the production.
