Emergent Arts Presents COMPLETE HISTORY OF AMERICA (ABRIDGED), Begins Today
Emergent Arts will present the comedy The Complete History of America (abridged) by Adam Long, Reed Martin, and Austin Tichenor, at The Mix Studio Theater, 8 N. Washington, Ypsilanti, Michigan. The play opens Wednesday July 2 at 8pm, and runs July 3-6, 10-13, and 17-20, Thursday through Saturday at 8pm, and Sunday at 2pm. Tickets are $12 General Admission, $10 Seniors and Students with ID.
The play is a fast-paced romp through American history, complete with impromptu props, bad accents, cross-dressing, and funny hats. Three actors present the history of America, stepping in and out of roles while racing around the theater creating chaos and laughter.
"...THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF AMERICA interprets the past as a breathlessly paced sequence of silly vaudeville sketches, word-association games, puns and crude parodies of movie and television genres. Nothing is sacred, and many of the facts have been skewed to suggest the paranoid ravings of a particularly loony tabloid...." Stephen Holden, The New York Times
"History has never been this much fun. Or as delightfully mutilated.... Doubtless, reputable historians like Will and Ariel Durant would cringe at this slapstick telling of the American saga. But the rest of us can just giggle uncontrollably...." Bill Brownstein, The Gazette (Montreal)
Location: The Mix Studio Theater, 8 N. Washington St., Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197.
Dates and Times: Opens Wednesday July 2 at 8pm, and runs July 3-6, 10-13, and 17-20, Thursday through Saturday at 8pm, and Sunday at 2pm
