Mark Rylance-Led FARINELLI AND THE KING Begins Tonight on Broadway

The critically acclaimed Shakespeare's Globe production of Farinelli and the King, starring three-time Tony Award-winner (Twelfth Night, Jerusalem, Boeing-Boeing) and Academy Award-winner (Bridge of Spies) Mark Rylance, begins tonight, December 5, 2017 in advance of an opening night on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Broadway's Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street).

Rush Policy Announced For FARINELLI AND THE KING

Producers Sonia Friedman Productions, Shakespeare's Globe and Paula Marie Black announce a daily rush policy for the Shakespeare's Globe production of FARINELLI AND THE KING, starring three-time Tony Award winner and Academy Award winner Mark Rylance. Previews begin tomorrow night, Tuesday, December 5, at Broadway's Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street).

FARINELLI AND THE KING Will Offer On-Stage Seating at the Belasco Theatre

On-stage seating for the Shakespeare's Globe production of FARINELLI AND THE KING, starring three-time Tony Award winner and Academy Award winner Mark Rylance, will go on sale on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 10:00 AM.The Belasco Theatre will be transformed for this beguiling and transporting production, lit almost exclusively by the glow of candlelight and with live music played on Baroque instruments. Theatregoers who choose on-stage seats, in the upper gallery and at stage level ($32-$157) will have an authentic, up close and intimate viewing experience. These tickets will be available for purchase at Telecharge.com and at the Belasco Theatre box office (111 West 44th Street).

Broadway shows changing houses is not a totally uncommon thing, though it has happened just a handful of times over the past few years. In 2013, Mamma Mia! packed up at the Winter Garden to continue its run at the Broadhurst Theatre. Rock of Ages moved three blocks from the Brooks Atkinson to the Helen Hayes in 2011. Before that, such shows as The 39 Steps, August: Osage County, The Lion King, and Chicago did the same. So what exactly goes into moving from Broadway's smallest theatre to a 1093-seat house? Gene O'Donovan, Adrian Bryan-Brown, and Arnold Abramson Will Receive 2015 Tony Honors!

The Tony Awards Administration Committee has announced this year's recipients of 2015 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre. These honors will be presented at the Tony Honors Cocktail Party, a private cocktail reception, on Monday, June 1st at the Paramount Hotel's Diamond Horseshoe. The 2015 Tony Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, June 7th on CBS, and are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

Aurora Produtions Founder Gene O'Donovan Announces Retirement

Gene O'Donovan, founder of Aurora Productions, one of Broadway's major companies for theatrical production management and technical supervision, has announced his retirement from his position as President of the company. O'Donovan founded Aurora Productions in 1994 and he remains with the company both as a consultant and to foster additional business development. Ben Heller, currently Vice President of Aurora, succeeds O'Donovan as President of the company.

Rory Block Plays Bridge Street Live Tonight

Multi-award-winning blues singer/guitarist Rory Block will release the fourth CD in her 'Mentor Series' on June 4 with Avalon on Stony Plain Records, a tribute to blues master Mississippi John Hurt. Previous Rory Block salutes have been to Rev. Gary Davis (I Belong to the Band), Mississippi Fred McDowell (Shake 'em on Down) and Son House (Blues Walkin' Like a Man).

Aurora Announces New TD and Lit Manager

Berkeley's acclaimed Aurora Theatre Company announced today the appointment of Ryan O'Steen as Technical Director and Production Coordinator of Aurora Theatre Company. O'Steen replaces Chris Killion, Aurora's first Technical Director and Production Coordinator at its current Addison Street space. Killion, an integral part of the company for 11 years, collaborated with the architects and builders on both the original Aurora Addison Street space, as well as the new Dashow Wing, in addition to constructing sets for 55 Aurora productions. O'Steen joins the company directly from Berkeley Repertory Theatre.
