Tonight's, Thursday, March 3, and the Saturday evening March 5 performances of Lincoln Center Theater's acclaimed production of the new opera Intimate Apparel will be recorded for future broadcast by Great Performances – on PBS as part of #PBSForTheArts – a multiplatform campaign that celebrates the arts in America. 

INTIMATE APPAREL appeared this week at LCT’s Mitzi Newhouse Theater, directed adroitly by Bartlett Sher, with a thoughtful libretto by Lynn Nottage based on her award-winning play and a ragtime-inflected score by composer Ricky Ian Gordon.

Lincoln Center Theater’s INTIMATE APPAREL, a new opera with music by Ricky Ian Gordon, libretto by Lynn Nottage, based on her acclaimed play, and directed by Bartlett Sher, officially opened on Monday, January 31 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater after it shuddered during previews when the theaters shutdown in 2020.

The opera, directed by Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher, will begin previews tonight, February 27 and open on Monday, March 23 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater.

 Dianne McIntyre has replaced Camille A. Brown as the choreographer for Lincoln Center Theater's current production of Intimate Apparel. Brown excited the production early on in the process due to scheduling conflicts.

The opera, which will be directed by Bartlett Sher, will begin previews Thursday, February 27 and open on Monday, March 23 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street).

On March 3, 2019, Pacific Opera Project (POP) presented its more-than-a-little-bit-zany version of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's THE MAGIC FLUTE (DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE) at Los Angeles's El Portal Theatre. POP Director and Designer Josh Shaw and Baritone E. Scott Levin premiered a new English version of Emanuel Schikaneder's German libretto in which the characters resembled those of a 1990s video game.
