UC Santa Barbara Department of Theater and Dance LAUNCH PAD's ALONE, TOGETHER premieres today, Saturday, June 6. The festival joins acclaimed writers and directors with acting and directing students for a virtual presentation of new work and new talent.

UC Santa Barbara Department of Theater and Dance is proud to present two unique events - LAUNCH PAD's ALONE, TOGETHER and THE SPOTLIGHT PROJECT - which join acclaimed writers and directors with acting and directing students for a virtual presentation of new work and new talent.

Rubicon Theatre Company Presents West Coast Premiere Of NEVER NOT ONCE By Carey Crim

Rubicon Theatre Company of Ventura begins the new year with the West Coast Premiere of NEVER NOT ONCE, a powerful, compelling and timely new drama by CAREY CRIM. The production premiered earlier this season at JEFF DANIELS' Purple Rose Theatre. NEVER NOT ONCE previews February 5-7 and opens February 8 at Rubicon's home, 1006 E. Main Street in Ventura's Downtown Cultural District, continuing Wednesdays through Sundays through February 23. A thought-provoking response to the #MeToo movement, NEVER NOT ONCE is about the families we choose, and the secrets that can pull them apart. The production is helmed by Brit KATHARINE FARMER, who has directed acclaimed Rubicon productions of Gulf View Drive (Ovation Award, Best Production of a Play, Larger Theatre), Incognito (West Coast Premiere), Heisenberg with Faline England and Joe Spano, and South Pacific (all Critic's Choices in the L.A. New Light Theater Project Presents BRECHT: CALL AND RESPOND

New Light Theater Project presents Brecht: Call and Respond (an evening of three one-acts), featuring The Jewish Wife by  Bertolt Brecht with the commissioned one-acts Self Help in the Anthropocene by Kristin Idaszak and Sunset Point by Arlene Hutton.  Directed by Jerry Heymann, Brecht: Call and Respond (an evening of three one-acts) begins performances on Thursday, January 30 for a limited engagement through Saturday, February 15.  Press opening is Sunday, February 2 at 3 pm.  The performance schedule is Wednesday a?" Friday at 7:30 pm, Saturday at 2 pm & 7:30 pm, and Sunday at 3 pm. Please note the following schedule adjustments: there is no matinee performance on Saturday 2/1; there is an added performance on Tue 2/11 at 7:30 pm.  Performances are at The Paradise Factory (64 East 4th Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue). Nylon Fusion Will Present the NYC Premiere Of Michaela Jeffery's THE LISTENING ROOM at The New Ohio

2019 LAUNCH PAD Summer Reading Series Announced At UCSB

For one week each, beginning on August 6, three professional playwrights-in-residence will develop their new works in active collaboration with some of Santa Barbara's favorite actors and a cadre of talented UC Santa Barbara students as part of LAUNCH PAD's 6th annual Summer Reading Series. 

Parity Productions Selected For NYTW Next Door Series For World Premiere Of MIRRORS

Parity Productions, the New York based theatre company dedicated to producing new work and filling at least 50% of the creative positions (playwrights, directors, and designers) with women and/or trans and gender nonconforming (TCNG) artists, is pleased to announce its selection to the 2019/2020 Season of Next Door at New York Theatre Workshop for its world premiere production of Mirrors by 2018 Parity Commission Winner Azure D. Osborne-Lee, to be directed by Parity's Founder and Artistic Director, Ludovica Villar-Hauser.

Parity Productions, the New York based theatre company dedicated to producing new work and filling at least 50% of the creative positions (playwrights, directors, and designers) with women and/or trans and gender nonconforming (TCNG) artists, opened Charlie's Waiting by Inaugural Parity Commission Winner Melisa Annis on March 31 at Theaterlab (357 W 36th St, New York, NY 10018) hosted by TLab Shares. Charlie's Waiting is playing an extended run of 21 performances now through April 20. The cast is led by Tony nominee Xanthe Elbrick (Broadway: Coram Boy, Candida), and features Stephanie Heitman (A Snowfall in Berlin), and Amy Scanlon (Balladeers Play to the Moon) and is directed by Parity Productions Artistic Director, Ludovica Villar Hauser. 

Laguna Playhouse Announces HEISENBERG

LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE presents a co-production with the Rubicon Theatre Company, HEISENBERG, written by Simon Stephens (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) directed by Katherine Farmer (South Pacific, Gulf View Drive) and starring Faline England (Valentine's Day) & Joe Spano (Hill Street Blues and NCIS).

Casting Announced For OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY At Southwark Playhouse

Katharine Farmer directs Lin Blakely (Eastenders/ Silent Witness) as Bea, Michael Brandon (Episodes/Jerry Springer the Opera) as Jorgy, Amy Burke (Serial Thriller) as Kate, Rob Locke (NCIS, General Hospital) as Larry and Mark Rose (True West) as Coles in a timely revival of Jerry Sterner's darkly comic Off-Broadway hit, Other People's Money at Southwark Playhouse. Written in 1989, Other People's Money is a funny, fast-paced and provocative comment on the greed and excess of the 1980s.

GULF VIEW DRIVE Extends Through Feb. 17

In response to the unanimous critical raves and enthusiastic audience reaction, the Washington Stage Guild has announced that its current offering, Gulf View Drive by Arlene Hutton, will extend its run until Sunday, Feb. 17.

Washington Stage Guild Presents GULF DRIVE VIEW

The Washington Stage Guild presents the third and final play in Arlene Hutton's romantic trilogy portraying married life in the mid-20th Century. Gulf View Drive explores the lives of Raleigh and May Brummett, who met by chance during World War II, married in haste and faced the challenges of finding their own way. It is now 1953 and Raleigh's published stories have gained success. But success brings new challenges as both mothers-in-law and a sister descend on the couple. Along the way, each adjusts to the meaning of family life in his or her own way and faces an America beginning to confront its racial divide. The play opens on Thursday, January 17 and will run through Sunday, February 10, 2019. Press performance will be on Sunday, January 20 at 2:30 pm. A special talkback with playwright Arlene Hutton is scheduled immediately following this performance.
