It can be tough out there for a jukebox musical. Many have come, few have stayed. Yet, it seems like Broadway can't get enough of them. Recent hits like JERSEY BOYS and BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL are the picture of what a staged jukebox success looks like. They have paved the great white way in gold for future musicals of the like to flood their way in.  SUMMER: THE DONNA SUMMER MUSICAL is one of latest in the new class jukebox musical to hit the Broadway stage. The show opened to subpar reviews at the Lunt-Fontanne theater this spring, after a 2017 premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse. Republic Records, with producers Tommy Mottola and The Dodgers, released the original cast recording this past July.

 The Immigrant Arts Coalition, an advocacy support group comprised of New York City-based cultural organizations, hosted its second annual summit from August 5ththrough 8that the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City. Entitled the Francesca Cernia Slovin Immigrant Arts & Women's Empowerment Summit, this 4-day summit celebrated immigrants hailing from across the globe who have contributed to America's vibrant cultural mosaic. 

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present 'More About The Melody,' hosted by Broadway cellist Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf. The one-night-only event took place on Monday, August 6.

The acoustics of Birdland, usually employed to perfectly show off the music coming from some of the finest Jazz musicians in the world was also up to the task of accurately accommodating the elegant sounds from the cello and artistry of Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf. The new musical R.R.R.E.D. announced today the initial line-up of special guest stars who will fill the cameo role in the production at each performance. Two-time Tony Award nominee Christopher Sieber (The Prom, Shrek the Musical) will kick things off, performing at the July 28 and July 29 performances.
