Skeeter Murray Hosts 'Mr. Motown' Tribute, 10/24

Several of Detroit's funniest comedians, including Skeeter Murray, will perform a live comedy tribute for fellow comedian and impressionist Alturo Shelton aka 'Mr. Motown' at the City Theatre Saturday, October 24 at 8:00 p.m and 10:30 p.m. The concert will be filmed for national DVD release with a percentage of the proceeds going to develop the Alturo Shelton Foundation for the Performing Arts.

Shoshana Bean, best known for her star turns on the Broadway stage in Wicked and Hairspray and Off-Broadway's Godspell makes her triumphant concert debut in New York City with a one-night only performance that's not to be missed. Presented by Upright Cabaret, Shoshana returns to New York fresh from her sold out summer concert smash at Hollywood's Ford Amphitheater. On Monday, November 30th, 2009,at 7:30 PM, Shoshana takes the stage at the Fredrick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Broadway at 60th Street, New York City, singing from the Streisand songbook and selections from her debut album, Superhero. A Happening is directed by Upright Cabaret Artistic Director and theatre legend, Billy Porter with musical direction by James Sampliner. A portion of $35-$150 ticket price goes to benefit Hadassah.

According to a report in London's Daily Mail this morning, powerhouse producer Cameron Mackintosh is planning a big screen version of his international monster hit, Les Miserables. Reportedly, Macintosh has teamed up with the London-based film studio Working Title to collaborate on the project.

Following a sold-out Canadian tour, Michel Legrand returns to New York for a special one-night engagement at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center on Saturday, November 21st at 8PM. The multiple Oscar and Grammy-winning pianist and composer will be joined by French singing sensation Mario Pelchat. Five-time Grammy Award winner Dionne Warwick is the special guest star. The trio will be accompanied by a quartet of musicians, including Catherine Michel, the harp soloist at Opera de Paris, for a night of classical film scores by Maestro Legrand, as well as jazz and Hollywood hits, built around the romance and nostalgia of French ‘chanson.'
