With his hit show, The Marvelous Wonderettes, still going strong in New York and having just opened in Chicago, writer/director Roger Bean took a break this weekend to come check out the first regional production of his work here in Coral Gables at the Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre.

Bernard 'Pretty' Purdie, the world's most recorded drummer, will headline the Miami Jazz Workshop to be held at the Miracle Theatre on Sunday, October 25th.

Several of Detroit's funniest comedians, including Skeeter Murray, will perform a live comedy tribute for fellow comedian and impressionist Alturo Shelton aka 'Mr. Motown' at the City Theatre Saturday, October 24 at 8:00 p.m and 10:30 p.m. The concert will be filmed for national DVD release with a percentage of the proceeds going to develop the Alturo Shelton Foundation for the Performing Arts.

Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Broadway at 60th Street, New York City, singing from the Streisand songbook and selections from her debut album, Superhero. A Happening is directed by Upright Cabaret Artistic Director and theatre legend, Billy Porter with musical direction by James Sampliner. A portion of $35-$150 ticket price goes to benefit Hadassah.

The Four Tops, whose meteoric rise to fame began with their 1964 Motown hit 'Baby I Need Your Loving,' bring their soulful songs to The Orleans Showroom, November 20, 21 and 22 at 8 p.m. each evening.

According to a report in London's Daily Mail this morning, powerhouse producer Cameron Mackintosh is planning a big screen version of his international monster hit, Les Miserables. Reportedly, Macintosh has teamed up with the London-based film studio Working Title to collaborate on the project.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed 'Best of New York' by New York Magazine and 'an invaluable New York institution' by The New York Post, will continue its star-studded Fall 2009 season with the New York debut MELINDA DOOLITTLE in her first-ever nightclub engagement from November 17 - 21. The 'American Idol' finalist will perform an intimate evening of jazz standards, pop hits and Broadway classics, in addition to selections from her CD, Coming Back To You. All shows are at the Regency Hotel.

Following a sold-out Canadian tour, Michel Legrand returns to New York for a special one-night engagement at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center on Saturday, November 21st at 8PM. The multiple Oscar and Grammy-winning pianist and composer will be joined by French singing sensation Mario Pelchat. Five-time Grammy Award winner Dionne Warwick is the special guest star. The trio will be accompanied by a quartet of musicians, including Catherine Michel, the harp soloist at Opera de Paris, for a night of classical film scores by Maestro Legrand, as well as jazz and Hollywood hits, built around the romance and nostalgia of French ‘chanson.'
