Bernard 'Pretty' Purdie Comes To The Miracle Theatre 10/25

By: Oct. 16, 2009

Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, the world's most recorded drummer, will headline the Miami Jazz Workshop to be held at the Miracle Theatre on Sunday, October 25th.

Purdie, who has performed for the likes of Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, Miles Davis, Steely Dan, Joe Cocker and countless others, has laid the beat for over 3,000 albums to date. Best known for his signature "funky soul beat," Purdie has expanded the boundaries of almost every genre from jazz to rock to country and everything in between. Purdie's latest personal album, "Soul to Jazz" is considered years ahead of its time.

The Miami Jazz Workshop will take place on Sunday, October 25th at Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre with a Master Class at 11:00 a.m. and the concert featuring Purdie at 6:00 p.m. Tickets for the Master Class are $20.00 and concert tickets are $25 per person. Tickets for the class and concert can be purchased online at www.instantseats.com.

The event is sponsored by Musicians Discount Center, a first-time sponsor of the workshop, as well as Miami Jazz Party, a local group that strives to promote Jazz appreciation and awareness in South Florida since 2006.
