Several of Detroit's funniest comedians, including Skeeter Murray, will perform a live comedy tribute for fellow comedian and impressionist Alturo Shelton aka "Mr. Motown" at the City Theatre Saturday, October 24 at 8:00 p.m and 10:30 p.m. The concert will be filmed for national DVD release with a percentage of the proceeds going to develop the Alturo Shelton Foundation for the Performing Arts.

In a career that spanned over 20 years, Shelton was a standout performer and impressionist who mastered the voices of such celebrity personalities as Sammy Davis, Jr., Rocky BalBoa, Bill Clinton, Fred Sanford, John Wayne, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, and many others.  He is best n, however, for his Vegas-style tributes of classic Motown artists like The Temptations and Stevie Wonder.

Organized by friend and comedian Skeeter Murray, the concert and DVD will also raise funding for Shelton's surviving family: wife, Lavoris; daughters, Lakeitha and Angel; and granddaughter, Kiarah.

Murray, who has known Shelton for over 20 years, views this as a unique opportunity to continue his friend's legacy.  "Alturo was more than a comedian and impressionist," Murray says.  "He was a father, a husband, and great family man.  His legacy deserves to continue."

All tickets are $20 and may be purchased at OlympiaEntertainment.com, the Fox Theatre and Joe Louis Arena box offices, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy (without service charge), at all Ticketmaster locations, and Ticketmaster.com.  To charge tickets by phone, call (800) 745-3000.
