National Alliance for Musical Theatre announces preliminary casting and additional programming for the 31st Annual FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS, which takes place on Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25, 2019 at New World Stages

Considered by many, including Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda to be the a?oenext big thinga?? on Broadway, Mexican director, composer, arranger & orchestrator Jaime Lozano is making his Joe's Pub concert debut with a musical theatre gala entitled Songs by an Immigrant on August 18 at 7 pm. Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Artistic Producer) in celebration of its 50th season, will present Distant Thunder with book by Lynne Taylor-Corbett and Shaun Taylor-Corbett, music and lyrics by Chris Wiseman and Shaun Taylor-Corbett, with additional music and lyrics by Robert Lindsey-Nassif and Michael Moricz, the fourth and final new musical in development included in this year's 'Dare to Be Different' series. Performances are Thursday, December 6 at 3pm & 7pm and Friday, December 7 at 3pm at A.R.T./New York Theatres (502 West 53rd Street - 10th Avenue & 53rd Street).

The Kennedy Center's production of IN THE HEIGHTS concluded its run yesterday. Anthony Ramos, who originated the roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the Original Broadway Cast of Hamilton, starred as Usnavi in the Broadway Center Stage production of In the Heights at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Presented as a part of the inaugural season of Broadway Center Stage, a Kennedy Center-produced series of musicals in semi-staged concerts, In the Heights ran March 21-25, 2018 in the Eisenhower Theater.

Lin-Manuel Miranda surprised the standing-room-only crowd at the Kennedy Center's Broadway Center Stage production of his Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights on Saturday night. He was joined in the audience byHamilton and In the Heights music director Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton and In the Heights percussionist Andres Forero, andHamilton and In the Heights star Javier Muñoz. At the end of the performance, Lacamoire led the on stage orchestra in the show's finale with Forero joining on percussion. Miranda then joined the cast for their final bow.
