Olathe Civic Theatre Association (OCTA) continues its 2017-2018 season with Superior Donuts by Tracy Letts, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of August: Osage County. With Superior Donuts, Letts shifts from the highly charged physical tone and dark humor of his previous works, but retains his contemporary flavor with a lighter touch to address complex social issues. OCTA's stage will transform into a Chicago donut shop for the three-weekend run of this KC area premiere April 6-22.

Knife Crime In London Analysed In New Verbatim Drama At The Courtyard Theatre

Fox Hunting, a thought-provoking piece of verbatim theatre about knife crime, comes to the Courtyard Theatre for three weeks in May 2018. Based off transcripts of interviews with South Londoners directly affected by knife crime, which is still on the rise in London and accounts for more than a third of all knife crime offences UK-wide, this new play by 21-year-old David Alade blasts open how it affects the lives of those who perpetrate these crimes as well as the victims, and how it has become a sad normality for teenagers growing up in the capital.

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) begins accepting entries today, Monday, April 2, for the Live for Five online lottery for $5 tickets to the world premiere of DANCE NATION, the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize-winning new play by Obie Award winner Clare Barron (You Got Older, I'll Never Love Again).  Directed and choreographed by Obie Award winner Lee Sunday Evans (Caught, D Deb Debbie Deborah, A Beautiful Day in November…, [Porto]), the play is the fifth production of the theater company's 2017/2018 Season.

Freeform Casts Its Leads for the Paul Feig and Kim Rosenstock Comedy Pilot

Freeform today revealed the cast for the comedy pilot tentatively titled “Girls Code,” from Emmy®-nominated executive producer and director Paul Feig (“Freaks and Geeks,” “Spy,” “Ghostbusters,” “Bridesmaids”), and writer and creator Kim Rosenstock (“New Girl,” “GLOW”). Full Casting Announced For WET's Production Of THE NETHER

Washington Ensemble Theatre has announced full casting for the Seattle premiere of The Nether, Jennifer Haley's award-winning play that asks: What responsibility do humans have for one another as we dive deeper and deeper into a technology-centered world? Featuring a stellar cast, including Pilar O'Connell as Morris and James Weidman as Sims/Papa, The Nether is part crime drama, part haunting sci-fi thriller about a futuristic and disturbing virtual wonderland that provides sensory immersion devoid of consequence for its users. WET's lead producer and casting director Bobbin Ramsey directs this thoughtful and unsettling tale that amplifies the ways anonymity allows a human being to be someone (or something) else behind a literal and metaphorical pane of glass.

Jacob's Pillow Announces The 2018 Jacob's Pillow Dance Award Recipient

Faye Driscoll, hailed as “a postmillenium postmodern wild woman” (Deborah Jowitt, The Village Voice) for her work that is a “tour de force of performance and direction” (Brian Seibert, The New York Times), receives the 12th Annual Jacob's Pillow Dance Award. The Bessie Award-winning choreographer, director, and alumnus of The School at Jacob's Pillow joins a group of honorees that includes Annie-B Parson and Paul Lazar of Big Dance Theater, Kyle Abraham of Abraham.in.Motion, Michelle Dorrance of Dorrance Dance, Camille A. Brown of Camille A. Brown & Dancers, and Liz Lerman of Dance Exchange. The Award will be formally presented as part of the Jacob's Pillow Season Opening Gala on June 16, 2018 followed by the presentation of Driscoll's work at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival for the second consecutive summer, August 1–5.

Nine Award-Winning NJ Choreographers to be Presented in Two-Day Showcase At SOPAC

Choreographers are a rare breed of innovators. Moving dancers through space with humor, passion, elegance and power is their specialty. Now, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and South Orange Performing Arts Center proudly present Artists Who Innovate: A Celebration of New Jersey Choreographers, two spectacular evenings of performances from nine New Jersey choreographers on May 4 and 5 at 8 p.m. These award-winning choreographers have recently been granted fellowships by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts for their excellence in choreography. The May 4 performance features the work of Claire Porter, Nancy Turano, Stephanie Nerbak and Kyle Marshall. On May 5 choreographers Hillary-Marie, Loretta DiBianca Fois, Lauren Connolly, Samuel Pott and Keith Thompson will be featured.
