When the buzz of adapting to the stage one of the Philippines’ top-grossing films, 'One More Chance,' which starred John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo, came out, it took the local theaterdom by storm.

Tanghalang Pilipino (TP) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) team up with ABS-CBN's streaming app iWant in bringing six previously-staged TP productions online through 'Pantawid ng Tanghalan,' a fundraiser that seeks to sustain the theater company's commitment in bringing socially-relevant productions to the public amid the pandemic. These productions will be available on iWant from 12 June to 12 July 2020.

It is essential to be authentic because a production like this speaks of our cultural identity.

Preserved by oral tradition and the first Philippine folk epic to be recorded in writing, Biag ni Lam-Ang (The Life of Lam-Ang) has been adapted into a stage musical by Tanghalang Pilipino. Lam-Ang: An Ethno-Epic Musical runs now through 15 December 2019.

TV-film star JC Santos will play the titular role in Tanghalang Pilipino's stage musical adaptation of Ilocano epic Biag Ni Lam-Ang (The Life of Lam-Ang).

The story itself varies, and even in the northern region of the Philippines, there are about 10-20 versions of the storya??Tanghalang Pilipino's staging of a?oeLam-Anga?? is a reimagined version that aims to tell the story as truthfully as possible.

Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods will open March 11 and run until April 3, 2016, on the Lohrey Stage at Theatre Memphis. A childless baker and his wife set out on a mission to begin a family but must break a Witch's curse. The show is a delightful romp with a dose of reality thrown in the mix that makes one question happily ever after.

Compassion!') and playwright Rody Vera's ('The Merchant of Venice,' 'D' Wonder Twins of Boac') reimagining of Anton Chekhov's masterwork 'The Cherry Orchard,' now titled 'Arbol de Fuego,' a flowering tree that bears no fruit, which frames the main entrance to the nearly bankrupt estate Balay Dako in Negros Occidental, Southern Philippines, during the '70s.
