National Alliance for Musical Theatre presents its 29th Annual FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS, set for today, October 19, and tomorrow, October 20, 2017 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). Christine Evans, a Kindergarten assistant, is unexpectedly thrust into the job. With phones ringing off the hook, she must balance beleaguered applicants, incompetent administrators, and an army of parents who will stop at nothing to get their kids in.

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Katie Thompson in New Writers at 54: The Creations of Katie Thompson on Sunday, August 13 at 7:00 PM. Katie Thompson (Giant, Big Fish) brings her talented Broadway friends to Feinstein's/54 Below to debut original songs from this songwriter's many projects in the making. The concert will also feature selections from her new musical one act "Sleeping in the Ground" which recently had its first developmental lab directed by Andy Sandberg, and choreographed by Shea Sullivan. www.katiethompson.com

The Blue Hill Troupe, now in its 93rd season, brings “City of Angels” back to the stage. Set in the glamorous, seductive Hollywood of the 40s, the world of film studios and flimsy negligees, “City of Angels” chronicles the misadventures of Stine, a young novelist, attempting to write a screenplay of one of his detective novels. Each scene he writes comes to life on stage, starring his hardboiled detective alter-ego, Stone. As Stone's life in the film plot gets more complicated, so does Stine's personal and professional life, until the point when the two plots intersect.  The amazing double score and story do what all good movies should, eventually winding up to two happy endings.

The play was originally written to be performed by one woman playing over forty different roles. In partnership with Stage Rights, Edwards and Sandberg have released an additional version of the script for a male actor.

?Stage Rights has announced that Laura King is the recipient of the first ever Ready to Publish Award, which will be given annually in partnership with the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC). Laura was selected from five finalists who pitched their scripts at this year's SETC Annual Convention held in Greensboro, North Carolina.
