Packer will receive a six-week residency at the Hermitage and a $30,000 commission for a new work, which will premiere in Sarasota in 2022 with the Hermitage's presenting partner, The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art.

Sandberg succeeds Bruce Rodgers, who is retiring after serving as the Hermitage's Executive Director since 2005. Sandberg, an accomplished director, writer, and Tony Award-winning producer whose national and international career has been committed to new work and artist development, was selected following an extensive national search. In his new role, Sandberg will be responsible for overseeing the organisation's operations, artistic programs, administration, and strategic plan.

Steele Spring Stage Rights has acquired the theatrical performance rights to the original Off-Broadway musical comedy R.R.R.E.D., with music and lyrics by Katie Thompson and a book by Adam Jackman, Katie Thompson, and Patrick Livingston.

The musical is based on the true story of an African-American girl who dreams of becoming a writer and is set to a score infused with gospel, R&B, jazz, and rock to deliver a universal tale of redemption, hope, and friendship.

The UK première of the hit Off-Broadway musical SHIDA, written and performed by Jeannette Bayardelle, is today announced. The award-winning production, directed by Andy Sandberg, opens at The Vaults on 13 September, with previews from 11 September, and runs until 13 October.
