Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr. and Karen Olivo star in the New York City Center Encores! Off-Center production of Jonathan Larson's Tick, Tick... BOOM!, which opened last night, June 25 and runs through June 28. The opening show of City Center's acclaimed Encores! Off-Center series of landmark Off-Broadway musicals is directed by Oliver Butler with choreography by Camille A. Brownand music direction by Chris Fenwick. The Kleban Foundation's 24th annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre lyricist has been awarded to Nathan Tysen and the 24th annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist has been awarded to Arthur Perlman.The 2014 prizes were presented last night, June 23, 2014, in a private ceremony (by invitation only) hosted by ASCAP and BMI. Just last month, 'Submissions Only' co-creators Kate Wetherhead and Andrew Keenan-Bolger celebrated the songs of their hit web series at 54 Below. Under the music direction of Michael Croiter, the Submissions Only House Band, along with a number of exciting guest stars, performed a selection of music from all three seasons of the show, including original songs like 'Two Cents,' 'Wrong Spot' and more!

Stageworks Media will present an industry reading of GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN, a New High School Musical written by Eric Price and directed by Daniel Goldstein (Godspell). Set in a prep school, GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN is a modern retelling of the Jane Austin classic Emma, and features a score comprised of contemporary pop songs made famous by female singers, songwriters, and female-led bands. GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN will be presented on Friday, June 20th at 11:00 am at 54Below (254 West 54th Street, NYC).

The Drama League continues the Summer 2014 Programming Schedule with the ever popular 'Up Close' Series featuring Broadway veterans Andrew Keenan-Bolger and Kate Wetherhead, co-creators of the online web series, 'Submissions Only,' who will be joined by members of the cast on Monday, June 30, 2014 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at The Drama League Theater Center (32 Avenue of the Americas).

On Monday, June 16th the Theater People Podcast welcomes 'If/Then' and 'Rent' star Anthony Rapp. Topics discussed include Rapp's two year journey helping to bring 'If/Then' to the Broadway stage (he's been with the show since even before the workshop phase), collaborating with the show's creators Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt to create the character of Lucas, and reuniting with friend and 'Rent' co-star Idina Menzel (he has high praise for her work ethic, talent, and ability to maintain her status as one of Broadway's few 'marquee names').

The New York Civil Liberties Union, the New York State affiliate of the ACLU, today announced a star-studded lineup of award-winning performers for Broadway Stands Up for Freedom, its annual benefit concert to be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place, NYC).

Saturday June 7th was a spectacular day for Houston residents Brian Hampton and Keith Huckabay. The partners of 13 years, who consider NYC their second home, got married at Cop Cot in Central Park surrounded by family and friends. Some of these friends happened to double as Broadway stars, so the wedding was inevitably filled with singing, dancing, and showtunes.
