On Monday, July 21st the Theater People Podcast welcomes two-time Tony-nominee Robin de Jesus. De Jesus discusses making his professional acting debut in the cult-hit indie film CAMP, making his Broadway debut as an understudy in RENT, creating the role of Sonny in the groundbreaking IN TH EHEIGHTS, co-starring as Jacob in the 2010 revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES alongside Kelsey Grammer, and receiving Tony nominations for the latter two roles.

Santino Fontana, 2013 Tony Award nominee for Best Leading Actor in a Musical (Cinderella), visited students of Broadway Artists Alliance Junior Summer Intensive on July 9th. Fontana spoke of his start in school plays all the way to his Broadway career. Fontana relayed some words of wisdom during a Q&A, answering questions ranging from memorizing all those lines to the process of making Frozen.

The brand new season of DATES, MATES & CLEAN SLATES starring Stephanie Gibson & Julie Lubeck will premiere on Wednesday, July 30th @ 1pm. A web series about two relationship experts who give good old solid love advice...that's just a little off.

On Monday, July 7th, the Theater People Podcast welcomes Tony Award-winner Tonya Pinkins. Pinkins is currently co-starring on Broadway in HOLLER IF YA HEAR ME, a mostly rapped-through musical featuring the music, lyrics, and poetry of Tupac Shakur.

Transport Group's concert presentation of The Music Man has sold out The Pershing Square Signature Center's Irene Diamond Stage. Both general admission and premium reserved seating sold out within 24 hours of the initial casting announcement. Transport Group is taking names for a waiting list for cancellation tickets.

The New York Civil Liberties Union, the New York State affiliate of the ACLU, today announced additions to the company of award-winning performers for Broadway Stands Up for Freedom, its annual benefit concert to be held on Monday, July 21 at the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place, NYC).

Initial casting for Transport Group's concert presentation of The Music Man has been announced. The evening will feature Laura Osnes, Santino Fontana, Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Alexandra Silber, Mary Testa, Jill Paice, Heather Mac Rae, Jeffry Denman, Stanley Bahorek, David Greenspan, and D.C. Anderson. Complete casting will be announced at a later date. The concert will be held at the Irene Diamond Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 West 42 Street, on Monday, August 11, 2014, directed by five-time Drama Desk nominee, Jack Cummings III.

The Drama League continues the Summer 2014 Programming Schedule with the ever popular 'Up Close' Series featuring Broadway veterans Andrew Keenan-Bolger and Kate Wetherhead, co-creators of the online web series, 'Submissions Only,' who will be joined by members of the cast tonight, June 30, 2014 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at The Drama League Theater Center (32 Avenue of the Americas).

Topics discussed include her Olivier award winning turn as Inez in 'Zorro The Musical' in London's West End, the day her friend Eden Espinosa called her to insist that Lesli be seen for the role of Mrs. Wormwood in 'Matilda', and her emotional Broadway debut in the show. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr. and Karen Olivo star in the New York City Center Encores! Off-Center production of Jonathan Larson's Tick, Tick... BOOM!, which opened last night, June 25 and runs through June 28. The opening show of City Center's acclaimed Encores! Off-Center series of landmark Off-Broadway musicals is directed by Oliver Butler with choreography by Camille A. Brownand music direction by Chris Fenwick. BroadwayWorld was there for opening night and you can check out photos from the after party below!
