Vassar & New York Stage and Film Powerhouse Theater's second Martel Musical Workshop, A Musical Inspired by the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Company has its first performance tonight, July 26 at 8pm. The 4-performance run continues on Saturday, July 27 at 8pm, and Sunday, July 28 at 2pm and 7pm.

The summer is almost over and we are just mere weeks from the first day of school. The New York Musical Theatre Festival welcomed back Anthony Rapp, as he lead the staged reading of Shawn Cody's epic fantasy THE WATER DREAM directed by Jim True-Frost. Performances ran July 10 & 11 at The Pershing Square Signature Center, The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre (480 West 42nd St.), and waas produced by Royal Family Productions. The rock musical BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON will receive its Hampton Roads regional debut in a new immersive production at the The Generic Theater in downtown Norfolk, VA General producer Jeannette Rainey, executive director Philip Odango and artistic directors Matthew Friedman and Jennifer Murphy present the Norfolk run. Performances will begin August 23 and is currently scheduled to run through September 15.

Filled with clever barbs and super-silly gags, this bloody-good, uniquely original musical---a creatively-crafted retelling of the emotions, deeds and actions of our 7th U.S. President---continues performances through August 4 in Anaheim Hills.

It's gay; it's camp; it's Gay Camp! Following its sold-out run as part of the 2012 New York International Fringe Festival and subsequent Fringe Encore Series, the show's creators are returning with an even more laugh-packed run of the hit play Gay Camp, opening at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 6:30pm.

Westport Country Playhouse will stage the British farce, 'Loot,' a wickedly funny send-up of larcenous, lascivious behavior among the English middle classes, written by Joe Orton and directed by David Kennedy, Playhouse associate artistic director, playing now through August 3. Porchlight Music Theatre is proud to announce the first production in its new series presenting the 'lost' gems of one particular year in Broadway history, 'Porchlight Revisits...' The inaugural series focuses on the year 1964 and opens with Anyone Can Whistle, book by Arthur Laurents (Gypsy, West Side Story) and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (Follies, Sweeney Todd), starring Rebecca Finnegan, with direction by Christopher Pazdernik and music direction by Aaron Benham. Presented for one night only, Anyone Can Whistle plays Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m.

Local theatre company, Music Theatre of Madison, is presenting the Wisconsin premiere of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson July 19-27th. The show, written by Michael Friedman and Alex Timbers is unconventional and politically incorrect, but is a very different and surprisingly heartfelt look at the life of Andrew Jackson and the 19th century.

The Old Globe will present a one-night-only Jeff Buckley Tribute Concert on Monday, Aug. 19 at 7:00 p.m. that will feature several prominent San Diego artists covering the songs of the legendary musician.

Everybody knows a lawyer joke or two, but what's not as well known is the effect of the legal mind on the U.S. presidency. That's a problem, author Albert Lebowitz points out in his new book, because 27 of the 44 presidents since the nation's founding have been lawyers. For instance, although hundreds of books and articles have been written about Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, little emphasis has been placed on both of them earning degrees from Ivy League law schools, being constitutional law professors and having wives who also graduated from Ivy League law schools and practiced law.
