Lighting Designer Clifton Taylor Wins Knight Of Illumination Award In U.K.

Acclaimed lighting designer Clifton Taylor has won a prestigious Knight of Illumination Award in the United Kingdom (KOI-UK). Taylor, whose work has been commissioned on Broadway, off-Broadway, regionally, and in 17 countries outside the United States, won for his design of 'Four Quartets,' based on the poem by T.S. Eliot, which was remounted at the Barbican Theatre in London.

Choreographers Selected For 2019 ABT Incubator

Choreographers Gabrielle Lamb and Laura O'Malley, along with American Ballet Theatre dancers Claire Davison, Zhong-Jing Fang and Sung Woo Han, have been selected to create work for the 2019 ABT Incubator, a two-week choreographic workshop providing a focused lab to inspire new choreographic voices and generate ideas for the creation of new work. Directed by ABT Principal Dancer David Hallberg, ABT Incubator will be held October 29–November 9, 2019 at ABT's New York studios.

Quartet 131 To Make New York Debut At Kaufman Center

The Quartet brings together Lilit Gampel, Violin, Laura Jean Goldberg, Violin, Andy Lin, Viola, and Robert La Rue, Violoncello. These well-established musicians have come together as a string quartet to explore the richness of the chamber repertoire. Their interpretations demonstrate a depth of emotion while illuminating subtleties within technically demanding masterworks.

ABT's National Training Curriculum Presents 'Raising The Barre: The Cuban Method' Workshop

American Ballet Theatre's National Training Curriculum will conduct a two-day workshop focusing on the Cuban methodology of ballet training on Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20 from 10:00 AM–6:00 PM at ABT's 890 Broadway studios in New York City. The workshop is open to dance teachers of all levels. Intermediate/advanced-level students (ages 13–18) are welcome to enroll with their teachers.

John Selya Named Guest Faculty At Metropolitan Ballet

Acclaimed dancer and Tony nominee, John Selya, is teaching at Metropolitan Ballet Company this fall, as part of the 20th Anniversary celebration of Metropolitan's ground-breaking Boys' Scholarship Program. Over the past 20 years, MET has provided tuition-free classical training to more than 300 boys, totaling over $1 million in scholarships. This year there are 50 boys, ages 6 - 18, dancing at Metropolitan.

James Whiteside Makes ABT Choreographic Debut This Fall Season

James Whiteside, ballet's most daring principal artist known for his theatrical and technical versatility, has lots to celebrate this fall. On the heels of a recent Guinness World Record-breaking segment on national television, American Ballet Theatre will bring Whiteside's Vail Dance Festival Commission, New American Romance, to New York City this Fall season,October 23, 25 and 27 at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center.

The Joffrey Ballet opens its 2019-20 season with the Chicago premiere of Cathy Marston's enthralling adaptation of the classic novel, Jane Eyre, presented at the Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Ida B. Wells Drive, in 10 performances only, October 16-27, 2019. The 2019-20 season marks the Joffrey's final season at the Auditorium Theatre. The Company moves to the Lyric Opera House with the start of the 2020-2021 season.

Athens Philharmonic Makes Carnegie Hall Debut Oct 10

On October 10, the newly-established Athens Philharmonic performs a special concert under the direction of Yiannis Hadjiloizou The Philharmonic is joined by the NY Choral Society and soloists Larisa Martínez and Daveda Karanas. Additionally, the concert program includes works by Mr. Hadjiloizou himself, as well as one by his father, composer Michael Hadjiloizou.

Casting Announced For THE NUTCRACKER At Segerstrom Center For The Arts

Segerstrom Center announces the return of its popular holiday tradition – American Ballet Theatre's captivating production of The Nutcracker. Co-presented by the Center and ABT with choreography by ABT Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky, The Nutcracker was praised by The New York Times as “A production like no other, made with complete theatrical authority from first to last.” The ballet will be given 12 performances December 13 through 22 in Segerstrom Hall. ABT Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie has released principal casting, which will include Hee Seo as Clara, the Princess and Cory Stearns as The Nutcracker Prince on opening night December 13. Pacific Symphony will perform for all performances.

Colorado Ballet Opens Season with DON QUIXOTE

Colorado Ballet will open its 2019/2020 season with Don Quixote, October 4 a?" 13 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Colorado Ballet's dancers will delight audiences with Spanish-inspired classical choreography by Marius Petipa, paired with music by Ludwig Minkus, performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.

ABT Women's Movement Holds Discussion September 16

American Ballet Theatre dancer-choreographers Gemma Bond, Zhong-Jing Fang and James Whiteside will participate in a discussion on the ABT Women's Movement on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 7:00 PM. The discussion, moderated by MSNBC anchor Yasmin Vossoughian, will take place at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center and is free and open to the public.
