Alvin Ailey Dance Theater and MOMIX Added to Fire Island Dance Festival

Two of the country's most celebrated dance companies, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and MOMIX, have been added to the lineup of the 25th anniversary edition of Fire Island Dance Festival on July 19-21, 2019, in Fire Island Pines, NY. Produced by and benefiting Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway CaresEquity Fights AIDS, Fire Island Dance Festival (#fidance) will bring world-class dance from an array of styles to a picturesque waterfront stage on the Great South Bay.

The Joyce Announces Fall 2019/Winter 2020 Season

 Linda Shelton, Executive Director of The Joyce Theater Foundation, announced today the New York City dance organization's programming for its Fall '19 Winter '20 season, the first in collaboration with The Joyce's new Director of Programming, Aaron Mattocks. With dance styles from contemporary and modern to street and social, and traditional movement from Argentina, India, Spain, Samoa, and beyond, The Joyce continues to lead the way in international dance presentations while nurturing and supporting artists from all disciplines at every stage of their careers. The New York City organization, one of the world's largest presenters of dance, is especially excited to announce that live music will be featured during each and every engagement from the start of the season through the end of 2019. Fall '19/Winter '20 at The Joyce will be a true celebration of diversity in dance with programs and styles that encompass the wide range of aesthetic interests of both its artists and audiences.

Ballet Tech Kids Dance Returns Home to The Joyce

Ballet Tech KIDS DANCE returns home to The Joyce for six performances of Feld classics, June 6 to 9. Sixty-three whiz-kids, ages 11 to 18, will take the stage with four Feld favorites: Hello Fancy, KYDZNY, Joggers and A Stair Dance.

Scott Bradlee's POSTMODERN JUKEBOX Returns To Segerstrom Center, 6/15

Segerstrom Center for the Arts announces the return of popular musical ensemble Postmodern Jukebox on Saturday, June 15, 2019 in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall as part of its Welcome to the Twenties 2.0 World Tour. Their new tour is meant to prepare the world for a new decade - one that creator Scott Bradlee hopes will see a return to the style and craftsmanship that typified the music of past generations. 'Last time around the 'Twenties gave us Jazz, America's one true art form,' says Bradlee, 'Who knows what is possible in the 2020s?' Originally a YouTube sensation, the famed time-twisting musical collective has continued to find new ways to put Bradlee's trademark vintage twist on modern pop hits. Since its inception, the project has come to shine playing hundreds of shows to sold-out houses across the globe, from intimate standing-room gigs to large-scale, theatrical extravaganzas.

3,000 Nyc Public School Children To Attend American Ballet Theatre's ABTKIDS: SCHOOLS

ABTKids: Schools will welcome 3,000 New York City public school students to a free performance at the Metropolitan Opera House on Friday, June 7 at 11:00 A.M. The hour-long, narrated program will feature American Ballet Theatre dancers in exciting excerpts from the Spring season repertoire, including scenes from Swan Lake, Le Corsaire and The Sleeping Beauty.

Limon Dance Company Opens Tomorrow At The Joyce

Now in its 73rd year, the Limon Dance Company continues to garner fresh interest for its performances of both new works and American classics.  The May 29-June 2 season at The Joyce Theater will feature two Limon classics: The Moor's Pavane and Psalm, along with The Weather in the Room by company Artistic Director Colin Connor with guest artists Miki Orihara and Stephen Pier; and Radical Beasts in the Forest of Possibilities by guest choreographer Francesca Harper, with an original score composed and performed live by Nona Hendryx.

Pennsylvania Ballet Promotes Peter Weil to Soloist

Metropolitan Ballet Academy and Company congratulates its alumnus, Peter Weil, on his recent promotion to Soloist at the Pennsylvania Ballet. Weil, who was raised in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, trained at Metropolitan from ages 7 to 16 under the direction of Artistic Director Lisa Collins Vidnovic-who also performed with the Pennsylvania Ballet for a decade before founding Metropolitan Ballet, a highly acclaimed regional dance studio and non-profit, pre-professional performing company.

South Africa Makes Ballet History On The Bolshoi Stage In Moscow This Month

For the first time in the history of the Prix Benois De La Danse International Ballet Competition there will be two representatives from South Africa at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow: South African International Ballet Competition (SAIBC) Founder Dirk Badenhorst takes his place as the first ever South African jury member, and Soweto-born dancer Andile Ndlovu (pictured), now USA based, will perform in the prestigious event gala on 22 May as one of this year's 27 nominees for the Benois de la Danse award as Best Male Dancer for his role as 'Mercutio' in Washington Ballet's Romeo and Juliet.

THE MOTHER Comes to Southbank Centre

The Mother is a powerful, narrative dance production choreographed and directed by master storyteller Arthur Pita which has its London premiere at the Southbank Centre Queen Elizabeth Hall in June. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's dark tale, The Story of a Mother, this sumptuously designed production stars international dance superstar Natalia Osipova and award-winning contemporary dancer Jonathan Goddard.

Shreveport Dance Academy's Summer Intensive Announces Faculty Members

VIOLETA ANGELOVA, YVES DE BOUTEILLER, KEITH LEE AND IAN POULIS will be members of the faculty for the Shreveport Dance Academy's Summer Intensive in Shreveport, Louisiana. Ms. Angelova and Mr. de Bouteiller will be teaching from June 3-7, 2019, and Mr. Lee and Mr. Poulis will be teaching from June 10-14, 2019.
