Actor’s Express continues its 36th season with Blues For An Alabama Sky by Pearl Cleage. See photos from the production!

On Friday, May 24, 2024, THE PREACHER’S WIFE celebrated opening night at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta.  Inspired by the beloved blockbuster film, this world premiere musical was celebrated by stars and audiences alike as it debuted on the Coca-Cola Stage.  Watch as the creative team walks the red carpet in this all-new video!

Next up at the Pasadena Playhouse, the Tony Award-winning Jelly’s Last Jam opening June 2, 2024 (with previews starting May 29th). Kent Gash directs the cast led by John Clarence Stewart as Jelly Roll Morton, Cress Williams, Jasmine Amy Rogers; Wilkie Ferguson III, Karole Foreman, Eric B. Anthony, Doran Butler, Chante Carmel, Cyd Charisse Glover-Hill, Summer Nicole Greer, Janaya Jones, Grasan Kingsberry, Amber Liekhus, Davon Rashawn, Joe Aaron Reid, Naomi C. Walley and Hannah Yosef. I had the chance to chat with John Clarence while he was navigating Los Angeles traffic.

Awards were presented tonight in 37 categories including outstanding actors, directors, designers, choreographers, musicians, productions and 4 visiting productions by the Boston Theater Critics Association (BTCA) at the 41st Annual Elliot Norton Awards ceremony, held at the Huntington Theatre in Boston.  

A Theater in the Dark has announced its newest audio play – BIO-DAD, by Chicago actor and playwright Julian “joolz” Stroop. This new play is a story of a young person whose journey to understand their late father takes them across galaxies and leads them to a greater understanding of themself as well as their family.
