Meet the cast of SUNSET BOULEVARD at North Shore Music Theatre, which stars Alice Ripley as the fading Hollywood star, Norma Desmond

In the annals of musical theater, Norma Desmond is one of those larger than life characters, like Mame Dennis, Dolly Levi, and Eva Peron, who cries out for an actor with a specific and rare combination of skills to play the role. Tony Award-winner Alice Ripley ascends to playing the faded silent-screen star in the North Shore Music Theatre production of SUNSET BOULEVARD, after originating the role of Betty Schaefer in the 1994 original Broadway cast which starred Glenn Close. In so doing, Ripley joins the pantheon of singular talents who have put their personal stamp on the musical iteration of Norma, stepping out of the shadow of the indelible mark Gloria Swanson made on celluloid in Billy Wilder's 1950 film.

The North Shore Civic Ballet (NSCB), a nonprofit dance company in Marblehead, Massachusetts, has been selected to perform in the Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre's 11th Annual Dance for World Community Festival.  The NSCB, based at the Marblehead School of Ballet (MSB), marks its fourth appearance at the festival on Saturday, June 8 at 3:55 p.m. at The Sanctuary Theatre located at 400 Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  The performance is free and open to the public.

The Marblehead School of Ballet (MSB) celebrates National Dance Week from Friday, April 19 through Saturday, April 27. To thank the public for its support for 47 years, MSB offers special discounts throughout the week and presents a preview performance of new pieces on April 27.

HBO has given a pilot order for a new half-hour comedy to titled BARRY. SNL alum Bill Hader will star and direct the project he co-wrote, and will executive produce the pilot with 'Silicon Valley's Alex Berg.
