Monterey Jazz Festival is proud to announce the results of the annual Next Generation Jazz Festival.

On Saturday, February 24, Shoshana Bean performed her album release show - Spectrum - at Ace Theater Downtown Los Angeles. Spectrum, Bean's fourth studio album which was released on February 9, is a fresh new take on the classic tradition of big band with arrangements by Grammy award-nominated arranger Alan Ferber.

Broadway fave and former Elphaba, Shoshana Bean, has just dropped her cover of the Oscar-nominated anthem, This Is Me, from the musical The Greatest Showman. All proceeds of the song will go to benefit the LA LGBT Center. You can find the song on Spotify and other music streaming platforms.

This concert will feature Bean along with an 18 piece big band performing a carefully-selected collection of standards, classics and modern favorites, while still including a few Bean-penned gems. Bean made her Broadway debut in the original cast of Hairspray before taking over for Idina Menzel as Elphaba in Wicked and has performed all over the world with artists such as Ariana Grande, Brian McKnight, Postmodern Jukebox (PMJ), David Foster and Michael Jackson.

The New York Jazz Workshop is celebrating its 10th anniversary with 16 music programs and jazz camps for young adults and older musicians in New York City this summer.

The 48th Annual Next Generation Jazz Festival Presented by Monterey Jazz Festival takes place March 9- 11, 2018 in downtown Monterey. The weekend-long event includes big bands, combos, vocal ensembles, and individual musicians vying for a spot on the stages of the 61st Annual Monterey Jazz Festival. All events are free and open to the public.

Music Mountain, America's Longest Running Chamber Music Festival, delivers another banner weekend of music with first time guest Ariel Quartet with guest artist Soyeon Kate Lee, piano, performing Mozart, Dvorak and Schumann on Sunday, July 23 (3pm). The weekend begins with Anouman making their Music Mountain debut on Saturday, July 22 (6:30pm)! Concerts are scheduled thru September 17.

Music Mountain, America's Oldest Continuing Summer Chamber Music Festival, continues its 88th season with a very special program featuring renowned pianist Peter Serkin with Anna Polonsky performing works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms and Schubert for Piano 4 Hands on Sunday, July 2nd (3pm). The weekend gets off to a swinging start on Saturday, July 1st (6:30pm) with Swingtime Big Band! Concerts are scheduled thru September 17th.  

Chamber & Jazz music enthusiasts will want to mark their calendars for the start of Music Mountain's 88th Season! Music Mountain President, Nicholas Gordon announced America's oldest continuing summer chamber music festival will kick off on June 11th with a summer featuring Beethoven and favorite Piano Quintets! The Summer Season will also welcome the award-winning clarinetist Oskar Espina-Ruiz as the new Artistic Director for the organization. Concerts are scheduled through September 17th. The BMI Jazz Composers Workshop, a prestigious creative forum for musical exploration and development, will present the best new big band and jazz orchestra compositions created during the past year at the 29th Annual Summer Showcase Concert. The BMI/New York Jazz Orchestra, a 17-piece modern repertory ensemble made up of leading New York musicians, will be featured at this FREE event held at The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater (10 West 64th Street) on Tuesday, June 6th at 7:30 PM. Doors will be at 7 PM with seating first come, first serve.
