Internationally renowned, New York City-based experimental theater company Theater Mitu explores the history, contradictions and mythology of the ever-complicated landscape of the US/Mexico border in a uniquely theatrical multi-media event. Led by Juarez born-and-raised artistic director Ruben Polendo, the company brings Juarez: A Documentary Mythology to The Los Angeles Theatre Center as part of the Latino Theater Company's 30th anniversary season. 59E59 Theaters has announced that SONGBIRD is extending its run through Sunday, December 6. The production was originally scheduled to close on Sunday, November 29.

The Lilly Awards Broadway Cabaret, an evening of musical showstoppers written by women and performed by Broadway's best, benefits The Lilly Awards Foundation (Marsha Norman, President) whose mission is to promote gender parity at all levels of theatrical production, and develop and celebrate the work of women in the theater. Directed by Leigh Silverman, and with musical direction by Georgia Stitt, it was held on Monday night at The Cutting Room.

See 'Songbird,' a gem of a show, now at 59E59 through November 29th. It is written by Michael Kimmel, directed by JV Mercanti with original music and lyrics by Lauren Prichard. Based on 'The Seagull' by Anton Chekhov, it is set in Tennessee and features an excellent country music score.

Produced by Allison Bressi and Diana Buckhantz by special association with Less Than Rent Theatre for the 5A Season, SONGBIRD begins performances on Tuesday, October 20 for a limited engagement through Sunday, November 29. Opening Night is Wednesday, October 28 at 7 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7 PM; Friday at 8 PM; Saturday at 2 PM & 8 PM; and Sunday at 3 PM.
