59E59 Theaters has announced the fifth play of the 5A Season.  SONGBIRD, written by Michael Kimmel with music & lyrics by Lauren Pritchard, and directed by JV Mercanti.

54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, will present Songbird in Concert featuring Amy Spanger (Rock of Ages, Reefer Madness), Kacie Sheik (Hair) and more on June 30th at 9:30pm.

An unlikely collaboration between singer songwriter Lauren Pritchard (LOLO) and writer Michael Kimmel (The Last Goodbye) has resulted in the whiskey-soaked new play 'Songbird,' which is now set to land at Joe's Pub on July 21. Set in Pritchard's home state of Tennessee, the play looks at the darker side of country music and the musicians that create it. Now celebrating its 22nd Anniversary, The Blank Theatre's Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival has chosen 12 plays by young playwrights aged 16 - 19, from seven different states. These plays will be presented by professional actors and directors in this year's festival at The Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood, June 5 - 29.

The Old Globe is currently presenting The Last Goodbye, a new musical fusing Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet with the incendiary songs of the legendary singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley. Conceived and adapted by Michael Kimmel and directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers , the rock musical might be eventually heading to Broadway.

Propelled forward by Alex Timbers' insistent staging, Sonya Tayeh's explicit choreography and Kate Waters & Jacob Grigolia-Rosenbaum's athletic fight sequences, the actors ride this story fast and hard, fully aware that the journey of these two star-crossed will be cut short in a mere two hours' time.

Marie Antoinette will be performed at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street) October 26 through November 17. Opening Night is Thursday, November 1. The cast includes Fred Arsenault, Hannah Cabell, David Greenspan, Marin Ireland, Vin Knight, Jo Lampert, Polly Lee, Steven Rattazzi, Jake Silbermann, Teale Sperling, Brian Wiles, and Ashton Woerz.
