On September 26, the Long Beach Playhouse opens its 87th Mainstage Season. This year's season is a celebration of authors and their finest works with classics including Pygmalion, The Mousetrap, A Raisin in the Sun and Around the World in 80 Days. The season opens with Lanford Wilson's comedy classic, Hot L Baltimore on September 26, 2015. The season curtain falls on August 6, 2016 with the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. In between are six plays, including a two-weekend run of A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens.
GUYS AND DOLLS hit the Broadway stage in 1950 and was soon considered 'the perfect musical comedy.' With timeless music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and a clever, seamless book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, the musical has seen success since it first opened. GUYS AND DOLLS promises heartfelt and hilarious entertainment in Bayou City Theatrics' upcoming production, which runs July 17 through August 2 at The Kaleidoscope.

Rover Dramawerks has announced their SWEET 16 Season of plays "off the beaten path." Rover will present eight mainstage plays, two festivals, and a One Day Only as part of the season, plus a bonus Valentine's Day murder mystery (not included in the season).
A cast of student actors from 14 Triangle-area schools will perform the Tony Award-winning musical 'Guys & Dolls' July 15-25 for the PlayMakers Summer Youth Conservatory (SYC) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. High school actors and technicians began work on the production June 15.

We pride ourselves on our bounteous Southern hospitality here in Nashville, so who's gonna explain this: On Thursday, as thousands of country music fans gathered downtown for CMA Fest and thousands more fans of every musical genre you can think of were headed southward for the Bonnaroo Music Festival - just another summer in Tennessee, mind you - a truck spilled its load all over Interstate 65-S, adding to the hot, humid atmosphere with a whole mess of fish parts. Yep, you heard it right: smelly, disgusting fish parts baking on the hot asphalt under the blazing sun.

Is there anything more magical or more transformative than live theater? Honestly, I can't think of anything which can take you from the depths of despair to the fanciful heights of imagination so quickly - and there certainly is no art form in which things can change so capriciously or quicker, either for good or bad.
It's another busy weekend of new shows opening and many others continuing to delight audiences, with ACT 1's Dog Sees God and Street Theatre Company's Dogfight both opening tonight, while two shows that opened yesterday will continue to treat audiences to some especially wonderful music. Plus, there's a whole slate of shows being performed at Crossville's Cumberland County Playhouse, a revival of Osborne & Epplers' Southern Fried Nuptials down in Woodbury at the Arts Center of Cannon County, and John Chaffin's Cliffhanger enters its final weekend at Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre. Director/choreographer Ilyse Robbins reigns as chair of the board over a company of established pros and starry-eyed up-and-comers in Stoneham Theatre's effervescent HOW TO $UCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING. Tyler Bradley Indyck and Ephie Aardema make beautiful music together, Angelo McDonough almost steals the show, and the ensemble sing and dance with great energy and style. It's bound to do boffo business!
Centenary Stage Company's Young Performers work tirelessly to perfect their dance moves, learn all of their lines, and get their vocal harmonies just right for the culmination of their training session and this spring is no exception! These talented young thespians between the ages of 8 and 18 will fill the Little Theater with a variety of shows and musicals to entertain audiences of all ages May 29th - June 7th with their annual Spring Festival of Shows. The Young Performers Workshop (YPW) has been hailed as a "state treasure" by Peter Filichia of the Star Ledger and brings in youth from Morris, Warren, Hunterdon and Sussex counties. This spring, the festival will feature How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, Gypsy, and American Sampler: 100 Years of Broadway Dance. Performances will be held on select dates in the Little Theatre on the campus of Centenary College at 400 Jefferson Street in Hackettstown.
