Annie Barbazza To Release Debut Solo Album VIVE

Italian music artist Annie Barbazza is releasing her first solo album “Vive” on February 29, 2020 on Dark Companion Records. She was a young drummer in love with progressive rock when Greg Lake discovered her talent as a singer and wanted her on stage with him for the concert which would later become the posthumous “Live in Piacenza”. Again Lake produced “Moonchild”, the duo with pianist Max Repetti for Manticore Records where she sang many songs formerly sang by Lake with ELP and King Crimson. If these were the beginnings of Annie's career, now she is a rising star of the international Avant/Prog scene. Her friendship with John Greaves (Henry Cow, National Health) leads her to collaborate permanently live with the Welsh musician and to collaborate on his latest albums (“Piacenza” for Dark Companion and “Life Size” for Manticore).

This new single follows on the trail of Kuvaja's debut single 'Shower', markedly contrasting from its upbeat catchy vibe à la Aqua, Katy Perry and Kylie Minogue.

Quentin Sauve Re-Releases Debut Solo Album WHATEVER IT TAKES

Quentin Sauvé is a singer-songwriter from Laval, France best known for his bass duties in the excellent post-hardcore band Birds In Row.  Last year, Sauvé self-released his quiet and pensive debut solo album, Whatever It Takes, and stepped out of the shadows to show the world that he is an incredible talent on his own.  The songs on his debut are stripped down and soft, showcasing his vulnerable side and proving that “less” can, in fact, be so much more.

Margaret Glaspy Announces New Album DEVOTION

Brooklyn singer-songwriter Margaret Glaspy is returning with her highly anticipated new album Devotion, due out March 27 on ATO Records. Devotion is Glaspy's first full-length since her acclaimed debut 2016 Emotions and Math and marks an entirely new sonic chapter for her. Glaspy has built a reputation as a skilled guitarist, and Emotions and Math was notable for its swaggering electric guitar sounds; on Devotion she shifted gears and built songs with completely different instrumentation as their base. The results - co-produced with Los Angeles' Tyler Chester - are rich, sweeping, and melodic, a fittingly enchanting sound for a collection of 12 love songs. 'It's about letting love in even when you don't know what will happen when you do,' says Glaspy. 'It's about devoting your heart to someone or something, against all odds.'

BWW Review: Gustavo Dudamel Leads DAS LIED with the NY Philharmonic at Geffen Hall

Maestro Gustavo Dudamel, who usually leads the LA Philharmonic, took a busman's holiday to NY for a brace of performances with his orchestra's East Coast counterpart, the New York Philharmonic. His reputation as a master on the podium is not overrated: I can't think of a more understated, yet fully controlled, performance than the one I heard Friday night at Lincoln Center's David Geffen Hall, with Schubert and, especially, Mahler on the bill.

See a Recap From the 2020 Sundance ASCAP Music Café

The 2020 Sundance ASCAP Music Café kicked off on Friday, January 24th with a special introduction by Peter Golub, Director of the Sundance Film Music Program and performances from a dynamic group of some of today's most accomplished songwriters and composers. Cuban-born composer Jorge Aragón and Gene Back (formerly of the group The Books) started the day off with a beautiful set of instrumental music. The two originally met last year at the Sundance Composers Lab. Then musical force of nature Ron Artis II from Hawaii delivered a powerful solo acoustic set highlighted by masterful guitar work and deeply soulful songs that earned a standing ovation. Swedish pop singer-songwriter León brought some contemporary European cool to the stage while Americana troubadour Aaron Lee Tasjan, out of Nashville, delivered a set of left-of-center songs that were by turns poignant and provocative. And CYN, an emerging artist who is signed to Katy Perry's record label, capped the day with a captivating set of songs, several of which will appear in film projects in 2020. Several film composers stopped by the Music Café as well including Amanda Jones, who scored this year's Sundance short Baldwin Beauty and who also has music in the new BET series Twenties, and Bear McCreary, who scored this year's Sundance doc Crip Camp, which was produced by Barack and Michelle Obamas' new production company.
