Spring has sprung, and The Green-Wood Cemetery kicks off another exciting year of programming—from engaging history tours to hands-on environmental activations and the much-loved Concerts in the Catacombs. Much more than a cemetery, Green-Wood is transforming its sprawling green space into a distinctive setting for a wide-range of fascinating, one-of-a-kind events, concerts, tours, and so much more!

Acclaimed Tenor Lawrence Brownlee treated his audience, at the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater, with an afternoon of engaging, sensitive vocal interpretations of some of the world’s most talented African American composers.  This invigorating program, entitled Rising, increased in vocal nuance, and beautifully intonated clarity as it ran the gamut of spiritual, romantic, jazzy, contemplative, and socially conscious original compositions by this illustrious and very talented roster of creative composers.

Tenor Lawrence Brownlee returns to Princeton University Concerts (“PUC”) to premiere an exciting new program entitled “Rising” on Wednesday March 8, 2023 at 7:30 PM at Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall.

NYU’s 181 Mercer Street building, opening spring 2023, will become home to a permanent and evolving memorial to the African Grove Theatre, the first Black theater in the country that made history on the corner of Mercer and Bleecker Streets in 1821.

Green-Wood’s annual Memorial Day concert will make a triumphant return following a two-year hiatus. On Monday, May 30th from 2:30–4:30pm, the community is welcomed to enjoy a concert beside the Cemetery’s iconic Gothic Arch near the Main Entrance at 25th Street and Fifth Avenue. Visitors are encouraged to bring friends and family, pack a blanket and picnic lunch, or purchase sandwiches on site from nearby Baked in Brooklyn, all while enjoying a classical symphonic repertoire.

Broadway leading man and Tony Award nominee Norm Lewis played a brilliant concert at Carnegie Hall and Broadway World was there, in the person of a guest reporter named Andrew Poretz.

This Spring, Ragazzi Boys Chorus will present Cantate!, a jubilant concert celebrating the joy of singing. Featuring singers from Ragazzi's Young Men's Ensemble, Concert Group, and Choral Scholars, this concert will include upbeat anthems of rejoicing and contemplative melodies of perseverance.

The Cleveland Orchestra's free, annual concert in celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. takes place in the Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel Concert Hall at Severance Music Center on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. led by Associate Conductor Vinay Parameswaran featuring soprano Jacqueline Echols.
