The Hatch Lab welcomes its inaugural residents: Playwright and director Miranda Middleton (MFD Dir., NIDA, dir. Ned: A New Australian Musical, New Theatre), playwright Grace Chapple (MDF Writing for Perf., NIDA, Never Closer, 2020 Griffin Award Shortlist) and composer and lyricist Luke Byrne (Between the Sea and Sky, NYMF Best Musical 2018, MD, The Harp in the South, STC) to its residency program as they develop, workshop and ultimately premiere their new Australian musical, Paper Stars.

The Hatch Lab was created to assist Australian artists in their development of new musicals and provide much needed support to writers and composers who seek an opportunity to revise, workshop and ultimately bring to life their musical works on stage.

The first of five anonymous celebrities took to the stage for opening night of Intangible Adorations: Experience The Icon on Saturday October 12th to the delight of a select audience of VIP guests. The show explores the impact of celebrity worship on the mental health of the famous, and those who become infatuated with celebrity. Audience members gathered in the Hall of Celebrity, watched a VIP screening of a short film about the creation of The ICON, and then encountered a celebrity whose identity was concealed in a morph suit who revealed their deepest secrets connected to their own mental health in the Red Chapel. On Saturday, the ICON nearly revealed their identity. Although they did not remove the morph suit, they did pose for photographs and signed autographs to allow guests a chance to try and guess out who it was.

Dynamic is the word that comes to mind when speaking with John Tesh. His passion for his life, family, and career come across clearly in his instantly recognizable made-for-performing voice. Tesh was a staple in the 1980s on the popular television show, a?oeEntertainment Tonight.a?? Sports fans know him from broadcasting the Tour de France, Olympics, and other events. Still others follow his musical career, which boasts wins for six Emmys, two Grammy nominations, and three gold records. Tesh is bringing his unique performance to the Harris Center on December 5 with his a?oeSongs & Stories from the Grand Pianoa?? tour which, based on reviews, promises to be a night to remember. Between October 12th and October 19th, Toronto audiences will get a rare chance to get up close and personal with a celebrity doing something a little unusual at this year's Rendezvous With Madness Festival. Concealed celebrities will perform in the new immersive performance art piece Intangible Adorations: Experience The Icon created by Lisa Anita Wegner, Scott White and Carl Elster of Forever Epic Films.

Salty Theatre is thrilled to announce the complete cast for the Australian premiere of Top Gun! The Musical. With book and Lyrics by Denis McGrath, music by Scott White and originally produced in Toronto by Derrick Chua for Cattle Productions, TG!TM was nominated for multiple Dora Awards, including Outstanding New Musical. In 2004, Top Gun! The Musical was selected to be part of the inaugural New York Musical Theatre Festival, alongside featured new musicals by Stephen Schwartz, Avenue Q's Marx and Lopez and Chicago's Kander and Ebb.

On July 4th and July 9th from 4-6 PM, Toronto audiences will get a rare chance to get up close and personal with a celebrity at this year's Toronto Fringe as part of THE ICON EXPERIENCE. But there's a catch ... the performer's identity will be concealed by a morph suit.

The 26th annual Stages Theatre Festival will introduce Halifax audiences to many new and exciting scripts by playwrights from Atlantic Canada and beyond. Beginning May 28 from the comfort of the Scotiabank Stage, audiences will be offered the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of programming which will include new plays by local writers, musicals in various stages of development, and touring productions from outside the province. This year, STAGES will also offer Professional Development classes to local artists, as well as, two community events; "Singing with Parkinson's" and "Crossroads," a workshop for newly arrived immigrants to Halifax.

Halifax audiences will get a chance to hear playwright Peter Fenton and composer Scott White act out and sing songs from their hit family musical, The Giant's Garden on June 1st.

The latest musical by Dora and Canadian Comedy Award nominee Scott White (Top Gun! The Musical, The Giant's Garden, Bemused) will premiere on the opening night of the Toronto Fringe on the Factory Theatre main stage in Toronto on July 4th. Compulsion is a dark, fast-paced roller-coaster ride that asks 'What happens when life's decisions take you to the edge?' The show is a look at the darker side of love and was the runner-up for this year's Paul O'Sullivan Musical Theatre Prize.

When Debbie Read did her first Toronto Fringe Festival in 1989 as a house technician, she didn't realize she would be back every year for the next 29 years. Since that first Toronto Fringe, Debbie has gone from house technician to front of house staff, to volunteer. Along the way she has also produced and designed lights, but mostly - she stage managed: and she has never missed a single year. Her presence at the festival year after year is a sign that the Toronto Fringe builds loyalty not only among festival patrons, but also among the staff and volunteers that make the festival run.

One of the most important theatre festivals in the country, the TORONTO FRINGE FESTIVAL celebrates 30 years this summer. In honour of this major landmark for Canadian theatre, the Festival will feature a stellar line up of shows by many of Canada's hottest theatre artists, a throwback to some of the world's most important theatre productions with the #STARTEDATTHEFRINGE campaign, and a new creative pop-up patio called POSTSCRIPT in the Scadding Court hockey rink, where all events are free and open to the public. The TORONTO FRINGE takes place July 4 - July 15, 2018 with 159 shows at 43 venues presented across the city.  

Compulsion the latest musical by Dora and Canadian Comedy Award nominee Scott White (Top Gun! The Musical, The Giant's Garden, Bemused)  will premiere on the main stage of Factory Theatre on July 4th, the opening night of the Toronto Fringe.  

On May 25th, Calgary theatregoers will get a sneak peek at The Happiness Equation, a new comedy written by Peter Fenton (Bemused, The Giant's Garden) and Scott White (Bosco & Jones, Top Gun! The Musical). This reading is part of the Suncor Stage One Festival of New Canadian Work at Lunchbox Theatre.
