Storytelling for the sake of enlightenment and teaching is what many think of when they hear of parables. Allegories intimate there is something deeper to be found under the surface. And many a Sunday preacher has used the pulpit to convey an everyday lesson to live by. John Patrick Shanley’s DOUBT, A PARABLE has been a smash on Broadway in 2004 winning the Pulitzer prize and TONY Awards for Best Play and Best Lead Actress by the fabulous Cherry Jones. In 2008 it was made into a remarkable film starring Meryl Streep. And now Buffalo gets to sit attentively as the Irish Classical Theatre presents it’s gripping production as the season opener.
Casting has been announced and tickets are now on sale for Starring Buffalo's EVITA, November 4-5 at Shea's 710 Theater. Tony Award-Winner Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Kinky Boots) will play Eva, joining Robi Hager (Spring Awakening, Little Duende) as Che, and more.
Unfurling the raw emotions associated with sickness, death and grief are not new topics in literature. But author Joan Didion has suffered immense loss and tragedy in losing her husband and daughter, and uses this as the narrative of her book turned one woman play THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING. In Didion's own words her emotions may not seem raw, but they are truly rich with a deep sense of introspection and self awareness. And during the time of Covid, where live theatre is still on hold, Buffalo's Irish Classical Theatre is presenting it's second virtual performance with Didion's gripping play.

This WEST SIDE STORY will return it to its core as a young, desperate love story with its heart based in the streets.
Raices Theatre Company, Western New York's premier Latinx theater production company, will stage the latest version of its Desde El Puente one-act play festival opening Friday, April 19th. This is the fourth edition of Raices' flagship play festival and the first one to include original music compositions developed by members of the Raices ensemble. 'This musical version seemed like a natural progression in our development of Desde El Puente and with our ensemble,' said Victoria Perez, Artistic Director of Raices. 'Musicals are my favorite way to tell a story. The Latino culture is, in part, driven by our music. Therefore it seems like the perfect way to continue to tell our stories.'

Between Riverside and Crazy will star RLTP Ensemble members Victoria Perez, Dave Mitchell, and Lisa Vitrano alongside John Vines, Alejandro Gomez, Melinda Capeles and Gabriel Robere under the direction of Scott Behrend and assistant director Mary Poindexter. The production team also includes Lou Iannone (set design), Dyan Burlingame (set painter/dresser), John Rickus (light design), Maura Price (costume design), Diane Almeter Jones (props), and Eric Burlingame (sound design).

The Christians, nominated for 2016 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play, will star Dave Hayes, Aaron Moss, Steve Jakiel, Victoria Perez, and Lisa Vitrano under the direction of RLTP Artistic Director Scott Behrend. Production team includes: Dyan Burlingame (set design), John Rickus (light design), Maura A. Simmonds-Price (costume design/props), John Shotwell (sound design). The Christians is proudly sponsored by St. John Baptist Church. There will not be a live choir during the performance.
