Wigmore Hall Reveals 2024/25 Concert Season & Launches the Director's Fund


Wigmore Hall Director John Gilhooly has announced the 2024/25 Season. With more than 550 concerts, featuring more than 2,600 musicians, spanning September 2024 to July 2025, Wigmore Hall presents the largest classical music programme in the UK.

Thierry Fischer To Conclude Tenure As Utah Symphony Music Director Following 2021-22 Season


Thierry Fischer today announced plans to conclude his tenure as Music Director of the Utah Symphony in August 2022. Upon stepping down at the end of the 2021–22 season, he will have led the Utah Symphony as Music Director for 13 years, during which time he has revitalized the orchestra and raised its national and international profile through creative programming, renewed excellence in performance, and ambitious tours and recording projects. In September 2022, he will assume the title of Music Director Emeritus, in which capacity he will continue his musical relationship with the orchestra through regular return engagements.

Utah Symphony And Utah Opera Commemorate 150th Anniversary Of Transcontinental Railroad


Utah Symphony and Utah Opera (USUO) unveil a series of creative projects to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Golden Spike, the ceremonial final spike that joined the rails of America's First Transcontinental Railroad at Promontory Summit, Utah in 1869. After a concert with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on Friday, May 10 at 8:00 p.m.-exactly 150 years to the day since the railroad's completion-USUO presents performances throughout the month of May that feature works newly composed to mark this anniversary. These events and many others are highlighted as part of Spike 150 (spike150.org), a statewide effort to celebrate the Golden Spike.

Ambrogio Maestri Reprises His Acclaimed Portrayal Of The Title Role Of Verdi's FALSTAFF


Falstaff, Verdi's exuberant final opera, returns to the Met for performances February 22-March 16, 2019. Robert Carsen's acclaimed production moves the action from Shakespeare's era to 1950s England. Fresh off his much-lauded performance as Michonnet in the Met's Adriana Lecouvreur, Ambrogio Maestri stars as the notorious glutton Falstaff, reprising his celebrated betrayal in this production's premiere run in the 2013-14 season. The ensemble cast of merry wives and noblemen also includes Ailyn Perez as Alice Ford, Golda Schultz as Nannetta, Marie-Nicole Lemieux as Mistress Quickly, Jennifer Johnson Cano as Meg Page, Francesco Demuro as Fenton, and Juan Jesus Rodriguez as Ford. Conductor Richard Farnes, the former longtime music director of Opera North, makes his Met debut on the podium.

150th Anniversary Of Transcontinental Railway Commemorated With Utah Symphony Orchestral Work And 10-Minute Operas


Utah Symphony and Utah Opera unveil a series of creative projects to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Golden Spike, where the final railway spike north of the Great Salt Lake connected the rails of America's First Transcontinental Railway at Promontory Summit in May 1869. The Ivoryton Playhouse is honored to present a Veterans Day Concert on Monday, November 12th at 2pm and 7:30pm. Arlington Sons will be performed by David Pittsinger and his son, Richard Pittsinger.  This moving piece was personally commissioned by David to honor his late father - a US Army veteran and distinguished guard at Arlington National Cemetery.
