Association for Opera in Canada has honoured an outstanding opera company board member, Francis Price, of Edmonton Opera's Board of Directors, as the 2023/24 recipient of the Association for Opera in Canada National Opera Directors Recognition Award. 

OPERA America has announced the recipients of the 2023 National Opera Trustee Recognition Awards, which honor outstanding trustees of North American opera companies for their exemplary leadership and service on behalf of their respective organizations.

The American Opera Project (AOP) Board of Directors, led by co-presidents Sarah Moulton Faux and Mark Kalow, has announced that General Director Matt Gray will step down from his role at the end of this month.

The American Opera Project, the Brooklyn-based organization dedicated to the creation and premiere of lyric theater and artistic training, announces two new members to their Board of Directors and three new members to their Staff, who will work together to support AOP's mission and vision through new insight and continued dedication to AOP's audiences and communities.

American Opera Projects (AOP)'s Board of Directors announced today the appointment of two new inspiring, artistic leaders who will continue the organization's 30-year legacy of creating contemporary opera in the US. Effective July 1, 2019, Matt Gray, who currently serves as AOP's Producing Director, will become General Director, and Mila Henry will join the company as Artistic Director.

Enjoy a fully staged performance of Verdi's tragedy 'La Traviata . The opera, which tells the story of a Violetta, who sacrifices her own happiness for the sake of her lover's family, will be sung in Italian with English supertitles, and presented with full orchestra accompaniment.

For its 2017 fall season, the socially conscious new-music collective, Ensemble Pi, turns its focus on the life and compositional oeuvre of one of the most accomplished, prolific and intriguing composers of the late eighteenth-century Vienna, Marianna Martines (1744-1812).

A shy bumpkin in love with a rich girl hopes that a magic elixir will make her fall in love with him. The fully-staged performances are Performed in Italian with English supertitles and full orchestra. The Conductor is Gregory Ortega, and Stage Director is Linda Lehr.

The Blue Hill Troupe, the only musical theater group in New York City to donate its net proceeds to charity, performs Gilbert & Sullivan's "Iolanthe," April 8 - April 16, at El Teatro of El Museo del Barrio (1230 Fifth Avenue at 104th Street). All proceeds from the Blue Hill Troupe's production will benefit the Children's Cancer & Blood Foundation.

The Catholic Archdiocese of New York's new downtown cultural initiative, The Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Center for Thought and Culture (18 Bleecker) will present a series of eclectic events in celebration of 'the most wonderful time of the year.'
