Portland Opera Announces 23-24 Resident Artists

Portland Opera has announced the artists selected to join the company's Resident Artist program for the 2023/24 season: returning soprano Judy Yannini, tenor Antonio Domino, tenor Roland Hawkins II, baritone Sankara Harouna, and collaborative pianist Edward Forstman. Portland Opera's Resident Artist (PORA) program, established in 2005, is one of the company's core programs—a rigorous residency and training program centered on the cultivation and support of emerging artists, as a bridge between the academic and professional world of opera.

The year is 1943; the place, a New York City hotel apartment. Dorothy Parker—writer, poet, screenwriter, critic, wit—is not happy. Viking Press is about to publish a collection of Dorothy's poems and short stories, and an editor is about to show up at her door.

Playwright Joanna Pickering Inks A Deal With Next Stage Press

Pickering, is a British, actress and writer. She began writing for theatre in 2018, at Primitive Grace Theatre Ensemble, with artistic directors Paul Calderon and David Zayas, also co-founding members of New York LAByrinth Theatre. In 2020, Pickering was accepted as a member of The League of Professional Theatre Women, as well as The International Centre of Female Playwrights.
