Rico Robinson BIO

Rico Robinson was born and raised in Petersburg, VA. He graduated from the Appomattox Regional Governor's School for the Arts and Technology with a focus in Theatre and continued his education at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA where he majored in Theatre Performance. During his time at VCU, he participate in the Freshman Discovery project and soaked up all the information he could while attending classes for Movement, Acting, etc. His aspirations in becoming an actor lead him to leave VCU and pursue acting on his own. this hard road eventually lead him to Hampton, VA where he enrolled at Thomas Nelson Community College and obtained his Associate's Degree in Social Science. Rico always wanted to be a performer since he was a kid. His first show he played the narrator in a Nursery Rhymes play at his Elementary School. He wanted to play be Jack in "Jack & Jill" but because he was the only one who could memorize all the nursery rhymes at his young age he because the narrator. And since then he spark for acting has blossomed. He is not afraid to make a fool of himself just for laughs and loves to be the center of attention. His passion for pursuing this life of actor stem from seeing one of his inspirations, Denzel Washington in Glory. That movie among other Denzel films encouraged him to continue to pursue his dream. Since graduating from Thomas Nelson Community College Rico immersed himself in the Hampton Road theatre community performing in several shows since 2009. Rico's acting credits include; Shrek in "Shrek the Musical", Jim in "Big River", Cory in "Fences", Benny in "RENT", Valentin in "Kiss of the Spiderwoman" and most recently he strutted his acting skills in some heels as Norma/Norman in the world premiere of "The (former) Prostitutes Potluck Supper" at Generic Theater.

BWW Review: RAGTIME at Peninsula Community Theatre


The Hampton Roads theatre scene is bursting with talent, and some of it is on display in Peninsula Community Theatre's enjoyable production of RAGTIME. The production follows three distinct societal classes in New York at the turn of the 20th century. Exploring themes of racism, anti-Semitism, anti-immigrant bias and radicalism, RAGTIME is just as relevant to today's America as with the stories featured in PCT's production.
