BIO

REBECCA MOORE FREY
BIO
(2017)

Born in NYC to a sculptor father and pro athlete/scientist mom, I grew up in a famous family as a 60s flower child in the “Woodstock of Westport” (CT), where Pete Seeger, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Miles and Chuck Berry played music in our livingroom, and influenced me to become a performer.
I studied Communications and Theater Arts at Pratt in the 70s, under the guidance of Jordan Hott (Pratt) and Bill Hickey @ HB Studios. At NBS and TCI/Viacom, I certified in Broadcasting and TV Production.
I became a punk rocker and immersed myself in the NYC Village music scene, where I play music to this day. I danced with Blondie and Madonna, opened for the Ramones, jammed with the Smithereens, hung out with Betsey Johnson, grew up with the Arkins and Michael Douglas’ family, got kissed by Mick and Ronny of the Rolling Stones.
I was a resident comic and house manager for the First Amendment Theater, a troupe member with the 13th Street Theater in NYC, did my one-fun-woman show, in front of audiences at several known clubs in NYC, Seattle and L.A. since the 1980s. I got a featured close-up in the movie “Cotton Club,” and being interviewed on “Late Night with David Letterman” (NBC), and have been on several TV shows, including the leading role in “Case Closed.”
I’ve worked with Amnesty International for 30 years as an activist, writer, volunteer lead (I received the 2015 Hironaka Humanitarian Award), and been a journalist for three newspapers on both US coasts, as well as a produced playwright, author, filmmaker, entertainer, jewelry designer, videographer for MTV, editor and IATSE A/V tech.
