BWW Review: PARADISE, a Divine Bluegrass Musical Comedy Made Great Again at Ruskin Group Theatre


This satirical musical hoedown about living the American Dream tells the tale of what happens when the town gets convinced by the new Preacher as their "For Profit Prophet" and the son of a reality TV producer from Hollywood, Peter Martinez (Jamie Daniels), that the way to its salvation, fame and fortune is through being the subject of a new "Reality TV" show so the Preacher can raise funds to build a new "Mega-Church" in town to spread the gospel and bring more citizens into his flock. After all, he claims, "If they believe 'The Bachelor' is real, they'll believe anything."

Ruskin Group Theatre's world premiere of Sneaky Ole Time makes for a delightful, easy-breezy, light-hearted two hours filled with clever songs by Grammy-winning writer Paul Overstreet and solid performances by its cast of nine triple-threats.  Michael Myers directs his talented ensemble at a steady, easy-going pace.  Providing strong musical support, musical director Cliff Wagner leads the nicely laid-back Halfway Home House Band.

Those of you lucky enough to see EL GRANDE DE COCA-COLA at the Ruskin Group Theatre are in for quite a treat as Ron House, writer of this hilarious and campy send-up, commands the stage as host of a variety show so comically bad that he will keep you laughing hysterically from start to finish.

PARADISE Extends Through 5/4 Ruskin Group Theatre


The World Premiere new musical PARADISE, is extending through May 4th, 2013, at Ruskin Group Theatre, 3000 Airport Avenue, Santa Monica, Calif. The run will take a hiatus from March 31st - April 12th, no performance on April 28th. Award winning director Dan Bonnell has assembled an outstanding cast for this memorable new musical, with live music on stage.
