The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center announces the passing of Pedro Rodriguez, legendary director of the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center (GCAC) and elder statesman of Chicanx arts. He passed away on December 1 in San Antonio from long-term illness complications. He was 86 years old.

Pearla has announced her debut EP Quilting & Other Activities to be released September 6 on Egghunt Records (Lucy Dacus, Camp Howard, Gold Connections). NPR All Songs Considered premiered the first offering — an evocative track titled 'Daydream' — calling Pearla's 'music worth getting lost in ... stunning, ethereal, beautiful.' Brooklyn-based musician Pearla has released two new singles and provided extensive insight into both at Consequence of Sound, who noted 'Brooklyn's Pearla may just be 22 years young, but she's already well on her way to mastering the art of self-awareness.' The songstress enchanted a packed house at New York City's Mercury Lounge earlier this week and will play Rockwood Music Hall on November 4.
