The recording first is 'SCHOENBERG ON THE BEACH,' a song cycle based on Schoenberg and Webern's early songs, featuring Mary LaRose, Hank Roberts, Patricia Brennan, Michael Formanek, Matt Wilson, and special guest Marty Ehrlich. The second recording is 'LANTERN,' a collection of original compositions performed by Lederer's quartet.

JAZZTOPAD FESTIVAL NYC Returns For 7th Edition, June 23-28


The 2023 US edition of Jazztopad, from June 23-30, will feature a series of commissions from the acclaimed Lutosławski Quartet in collaboration with jazz piano luminaries Craig Taborn and Uri Caine, EMMY-winning composer Don Davis and sought-after bassist and composer Michael Bates. Iraqi-American trumpeter and composer Amir ElSaffar will also perform on opening night in a return Jazztopad engagement.

RADIO 477!, a new theatrical production about the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv in 1929 and today –  in collaboration with the prominent Ukrainian literary figure Serhiy Zhadan – will debut at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St. in Manhattan), with performances beginning March 10 through March 19, it has been announced by Mia Yoo, La MaMa's artistic director.

The 48th season of the popular Highlights In Jazz continues on March 19, 2020, when producer Jack Kleinsinger presents 'Ellington Everlasting.' The concert turns the spotlight on the maestro's timeless compositions and enduring legacy, through the dynamic vision of featured performers like trombonist Art Baron & The Duke's Men, drummer Bernard Purdie, bassist Bill Crow, saxophonists Bill Easley and Mark Hynes, pianist James Weidman and vocalist Ira Hawkins. In keeping with the beloved HIJ tradition, a surprise special guest will be on hand for the concert, to be held at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center.

International Contemporary Ensemble Announces New ICEcommons Composer Residency


The International Contemporary Ensemble announces six composers chosen to be the first ICEcommons Artists-in-Residence: Helga Arias, Kate Gentile, Murat olak, Ylva Lund Bergner, Fernanda Navarro, and Bergr n Sn bj rnsd ttir. Represented by a diversity of backgrounds and musical styles, the cohort was selected by a panel of ICE musicians and outside experts who, over the course of six weeks, became familiar with more than 700 composers who submitted their creative work for consideration via a new call for scores on the ICEcommons web portal.

National Sawdust+ presents Elements of Time + Taste: A night of inventive food, mixology, and music on Thursday, September 28, at 7:30pm. Two Williamsburg culinary and mixology notables,Patrick Connolly (Rider's James Beard award-winning chef/owner) and Allen Katz (the so-called cocktail world enigma of New York Distilling Company), will create a tantalizing experience for the palate, joining forces with a lineup of remarkable composer-musicians including singer Magos Herrera, multi-instrumentalist Yuka C. Honda (of Cibo Matto, or Food Madness, fame), and the evening's music director, pianist Oded Lev-Ari, who leads the ensemble.
