Beginning with a drunken Santa too intoxicated to perform in the historic Macy's holiday parade, Kris Kringle (played by Robert L. Berry) steps up to the float to wave at children and fill this required role for any festive affair. When the parade ends, our story's newly-appointed Santa, Kris Kringle, keeps the magic going by serving as Macy's full-time Santa Claus announcing to all those around, that he is the real deal. Doris Walker (played by Sarah Marie Curry), the skeptic and realistic retail operations manager, reluctantly allows Kringle to infiltrate not only the parade but Macy's itself., Children and parents everywhere come into Macy's requesting the perfect present except with the new Kris Kringle, if Macy's did not have the new toy, Kringle would send the family (and their money) to the competitor, Gimballs! Initially outraged by this unspeakable action, Gimball's eventually follows suit, creating some forced harmony between all THREE toy giants, Macy's, Gimballs and Santa himself. All seems harmonious and grand until Kris Kringle pronounces himself the real Santa Claus, much to the embarrassment of his bosses and new- found friends. With the trial of the century scheduled to determine Kris Kringle's sanity and the fate of one little girl's Christmas, Penfold Theatre Companies presentation of A MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET is a Christmas classic all ages can enjoy.

Back by popular demand, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE sparkles in the quaint performance space of Old Settler's Hall. Festively located next to Round Rock's "Christmas Towne", IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE provides more of an experience than a traditional retelling of everyone's favorite classic Christmas Story. Adapted from the beloved radio play / broadcast, the Penfold Theatre Company has brought this adaptation back to life, with magical elements the whole family will enjoy. Setting the stage in a quiet and whimsical hall, the audience is transported to 1946 as members of KPNF radio station. Back then family members gathered around the hearth to listen to the classic Christmas cast. For those unfamiliar with this sweet story, see George Bailey (played by Penfold Artistic Director Ryan Crowder), a man who, through fateful circumstances, gave up his dreams of traveling the world for the good of the people in his hometown Bedford Falls. A slew of events catapults Bailey onto a bridge contemplating suicide on Christmas Eve. What happens between his birth and George's contemplation of death, are the subject of the plot. This shines a light on the many struggles of humanity and brings into focus the humility the holiday season harkens from an individual.

Last year, I saw Penfold Theatre Company's annual production of It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play for the first time. I loved the show and gave it a rave review. My reaction this year is no different. Now in its 3rd year, Penfold's It's a Wonderful Life is just as delightful as ever.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Glee has become an eye-roll, a voice-crack, a televised wagging finger - and largely to its own doing. The current season, which has split its ridiculously sized cast into two completely different storylines, has reached a disjointed juncture: too many characters, not enough screen time.

As first reported in Variety, actress Halle Berry has been cast in Joel Schumacher's upcoming thriller THE HIVE. Schumacher will direct the film which was penned by Thir13en Ghosts and Exit Wounds writer Richard D'Ovidio.
