The Gift Theatre Announces Cast of THE GRAPES OF WRATH

?The Gift Theatre, Chicago's most intimate Equity theater, presents John Steinbeck's Pulitzer Prize-winning tale, The Grapes of Wrath, centering on an American family forced off of their land during the Great Depression and their epic journey west to California. New ensemble member Erica Weiss (Vigils) returns to direct the extraordinary and emotionally wrenching The Grapes of Wrath, adapted by Frank Galati.  The Grapes of Wrath opens Thursday, June 23 at The Gift Theatre, 4802 N. Milwaukee Avenue. Press performance is on Monday, June 20 at 7:30pm.

Cast, Creative Team Set for DIRECT FROM DEATH ROW THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS at Raven Theatre

Raven Theatre's cast and creative team for Direct from Death Row The Scottsboro Boys (An Evening of Vaudeville and Sorrow) has been announced by Michael Menendian, Co Founding Artistic Director. Playwright Mark Stein's play with music and dance, a satirical retelling of the true story of nine African-American teenagers falsely accused in 1931 of raping two white women on a train in Alabama, will be performed by an all-African-American cast of nine actors. Menendian will direct, with Frederick Harris providing musical direction for the score by Harley White Jr. Kathleen Dennis will be choreographer. Previews will be Wednesday, September 16 - Monday, September 21, 2015 with the press opening Tuesday, September 22. The regular run will be September 25 - November 14, 2015. Pegasus Theatre Chicago announces a 'Spring Muse: Hope & Justice' festival, May 19 - 28 at Chicago Dramatists, 1105 W. Chicago Ave., presented in conjunction with the World Premiere of Steven Simoncic's 'Ghost Gardens'. Pegasus presents three unique performances including Rachel DuBose's 'The Healer', stories of love and strength with 'Project Hope' by Hope 31:9, and 'Still I Rise' showcasing multidisciplinary female artists of color. Tickets are $10 each performance and patrons can purchase a special $25 festival pass. Patrons can also purchase a festival pass plus 'Ghost Gardens' tickets for $40. Performances of Steppenwolf Theatre Company's fifth annual Garage Rep are scheduled to begin February 14, 2014, featuring The New Colony's world-premiere production of reWILDing Genius, Prologue Theatre Company's Chicago-premiere production of Saturday Night/Sunday Morning and Walkabout Theater Company's world-premiere production of The Wild. These innovative storefront companies perform in rotating repertory for ten weeks through April 20, 2013 (press performances are March 8 and 9, 2014). Performances are scheduled Wednesday through Sunday in the Garage Theater (1624 N Halsted St); a full performance schedule, including the line-up for Late Night @ Garage Rep, follows.
