BWW Review: The MUNY's Uproarious and Delightful A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM

Brimming with painfully amusing puns, by gag writers Larry Gelbart and Bert Shevelove , who bring a bit of borscht belt humor and a sprinkling of vaudeville to the proceedings, and adorned with the wonderful music and lyrics of Stephen Sondheim, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM is an incredibly engaging and entertaining show, and it's the current attraction at The MUNY. It's a great match, and a perfect show for a summer evening, filled with sparkling, bawdy jokes, and brought to life with considerable energy by a stellar cast. I highly recommend this classic musical!

Muny Announces Cast Change for A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM

 The Muny announced today Jeffrey Schecter will star as Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, the third production of its 99th season, which plays July 5-11. Schecter replaces Peter Scolari, who struggled with allergies during rehearsals that resulted in extreme vocal stress and a severe sinus infection.

Christopher Tierney recently assumed the iconic role of Johnny Castle tonight in the North American tour of Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage in Chicago, where it ran through August 30. This marks the launch of the second year of the hugely successful national tour which will go on to play markets including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Detroit, Nashville, Des Moines and Denver this season. Victory Dance Project to Honor Renee Robinson at Ailey Citigroup, 6/3

The Victory Dance Project will celebrate its first anniversary with an evening of dance entitled People, Power and Possibility on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 7 pm at The Ailey Citigroup Theater, 405 West 55th Street (at 9th Avenue).  The performance will feature five works choreographed by Company Director Amy Jordan, including Big Fun, and the premiere of an excerpt from Thru the Looking Glass and Human Revolution, a contemporary ballet in five sections. The evening will honor former Ailey star Principal Dancer Renee Robinson, a renowned dance artist who will receive the company's First Annual Artist for Peace Award.
