This summer, live theater returns to Nevada County as Sierra Stages presents the Tony Award-winning musical “The Bridges of Madison County” playing for six performances only from July 23 through July 31 outdoors on the grounds of The North Star House in Grass Valley.

This summer, Sierra Stages brings the legendary musical "Cabaret" to Nevada City with an all-local Nevada County production playing from July 11 through August 3 at the historic Nevada Theatre. With a book by Joe Masteroff, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, this musical masterpiece marks the 11th annual summer musical presented by Sierra Stages. "Cabaret" is based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood.

Sierra Stages kicks-off its 2018 season with the inspired and zany musical comedy "A New Brain" by William Finn and James Lapine for a three-weekend run from March 1 -17 at the historic Nevada Theatre, 401 Broad Street, Nevada City.

2018 marks the 10th Anniversary Season of Sierra Stages, a nonprofit community theatre in western Nevada County (Grass Valley and Nevada City). The 10th Anniversary Season is a celebration of heart, music, laughter and family, and includes two musicals and one classic American comedy: The zany and heartbreaking musical A New Brain by William Finn and James Lapine, the enchanting new musical version of Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach by Timothy Allen McDonald and the songwriting team of Ben Pasek and Justin Paul, and the classic and enduring American stage comedy You Can't Take It With You by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman.

This fall, Sierra Stages concludes its ninth season with the critically acclaimed musical 'Ordinary Days' written by composer/lyricist Adam Gwon. Sandra Rockman directs, with music direction by Ken Getz, and featuring local Nevada County actors Jay Barker, Nancy Haffey, Jonathan Hansard, and Kim Wellman.

Desperate to avoid a conviction, Roxie dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer, Billy Flynn, to transform her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines. Sarah Ruhl's wildly imaginative and off-center romantic comedy "Dead Man's Cell Phone" opens next week at the intimate Off Center Stage in Grass Valley. The final production of Sierra Stages' 2016 season, "Dead Man's Cell Phone" is directed by Sharon Winegar and plays for three weekends only through October 16. The cast includesNevada County actors Chase Coney, Lyra Dominguez, Paulette Gilbert, Jonathan Hansard, Wendy Willoughby, and Sharon Winegar. An incessantly ringing cell phone in a quiet cafe. A stranger at the next table who has had enough. And a dead man-with a lot of loose ends. So begins "Dead Man's Cell Phone", a wildly imaginative and off-center romantic comedy by MacArthur 'Genius' Grant recipient and Pulitzer Prize finalist, Sarah Ruhl. "Dead Man's Cell Phone", directed by Sharon Winegar, is the final production of Sierra Stages' 2016 season and plays for three weekends only from September 29 through October 16 at the Off Center Stage in Grass Valley.

Sierra Stages has extended the run of 'THE LAST FIVE YEARS' and added two performances on Friday May 13 at 8 PM and Saturday May 14 at 8 PM at the Off Center Stage in Grass Valley. All seats for both performances are only $15.
