BIO

Jess Wright Buha is an internationally-produced, award-winning playwright and audio dramatist. She recently wrote a critically acclaimed audio drama for Marvel (X-Men: Age of Orchis, Radio Mode), and her work also received the BBC Best Podcast Award in 2021 for Unwell: A Midwestern Gothic Mystery. Buha has had over forty stage plays produced, including literary adaptations of Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina and Joyce’s Ulysses, by such companies as Lifeline Theatre, where she is an ensemble member, Filament Theatre, the Gift Theater, South Africa’s National Children’s Theatre, and many others. She has also written a variety of immersive theatrical experiences, physically spanning areas as small as one room or as large as the entire Portage Park neighborhood. She recently co-created and wrote the Soundlab series, four informational videos produced by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and used by elementary music educators around the world.

Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. will present its 26th annual Abbie Hoffman Died for Our Sins Theater Festival, featuring three days of virtually non-stop theatrical entertainment on August 15, 16 & 17, 2014 at Angel Island, 731 W. Sheridan Rd. in Chicago. Abbie Fest, as it's affectionately called, was originally created to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Woodstock Music and Art Fair in Bethesda, NY. Since then, Mary-Arrchie has concluded its past 25 seasons by inviting any and all theater groups and performers into its performance space for the annual festival.
