The Van Wezel has announced a partnership with Impact100 SRQ to host the Mayors' Feed the Hungry food drive on January 30, 2021. The event will be held in the Van Wezel's parking lot from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and members of the community are encouraged to donate perishable and non-perishable food items for those in need during that time.   

Guerilla Opera, having completed a decade's worth of world premiere operas, is still going strong.

David Lutken brought his friends to William Finn's Cabaret at Barrington Stage Co. and they are giving the BSC audience a treasure trove of American Folk Music for July 3rd & 4th.

Guerilla Opera is all fun and games in their 10th anniversary season, featuring a new production of Loose, Wet, Perforated with music and libretto by Nicholas P. Vines in September 2016 and the world premiere of Play, the Game or Game, the Play with music and libretto by composer and theater artist Rick Burkhardt in May 2017.

Guerilla Opera, in conclusion of their ninth season, presents the world premiere of Beowulf with music and libretto by Hannah Lash, stage direction by Andrew Eggert, and scenic design by Julia Noulin-Merat. Lash's Beowulf is a modern-day adaptation of the well know epic poem, in which Beowulf is a doctor caring for his elderly mother and suffering from post-traumatic stresses upon his return from a recent war. He discovers that his mother is being abused by the nursing home staff and removes her, determined to care for her himself. In discussing the opera, composer Hannah Lash said:

Museum of the Moving Image has announced the lineup for its First Look Festival, an expanded and reconceived version of its annual showcase for inventive new international cinema. Now in its fourth year, First Look,with a lineup that has expanded both in size and scope, is now officially a festival, the first major moving image event of the year. First Look will take place at the Museum from today, January 9 through 18, 2015.

Guerilla Opera presents Let's Make a Sandwich, an experiment in opera production, which includes two world premiere operas with music and librettos by composers Rudolf Rojahn and Curtis K. Hughes, and stage direction by Copeland Woodruff and Giselle Ty. Through performance, this production investigates the culture of contemporary opera production and highlights where the influence of the composer ends and the director begins.
