Lyric Arts' latest selection, Sarah Ruhl's "Dead Man's Cell Phone," prophetically speaks to the Iphone or smart phone's debut in 2007.  Steve Jobs of Apple Inc heralded the first iPhone in January, 2007, with its release to the public in June, 2007---the same year  Ruhl's premiered her surrealistic play in June, 2007. With the advent of the iPhone, the first touch screens and apps that could be automatically downloaded to your phone brought innovative technology to communications.

The Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston announces its upcoming exhibitions:

Comedy of Errors, one of Shakespeare's earliest works, will be brought to the stage this June by students in Stoneham Theatre's young company Spring Shakespeare program. The Spring Shakespeare program brings classic theatre to life by challenging young actors in ways most contemporary theatre does not. Through workshops, students in grades 4-12 focus on the importance of textual content and how to communicate the text to each other and the audience through emotion, physicality, and jest. The application of these skills to the Bard's plays is no simple feat, but 19 enthusiastic kids are more than up to the task of performing Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors on Stoneham Theatre's stage on Saturday, June 6, 2015. Under the direction and instruction of Lydia Barnett-Mulligan and Education Associate Tyler Rosati, the students will depict the complexities found throughout the play where each character is fundamentally right in their earnest emotional responses to their bizarre circumstances.

The twentieth season of Broadway Onstage Live Theatre and the thirty-third, and final, season of Dennis Wickline Productions, Inc. continues with the return of CHRISTMAS BELLES, a delightful Holiday Comedy by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten when it opens on Friday, December 6 at the Eastpointe Theatre. Running Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm through December 21, the production will also be offered during two special 2pm Sunday Matinees on Sunday, December 8 and Sunday, December 15.

Nearly fifty visual artists, writers, and actors participate in 10X10on10, a collaborative event of Alchemy Initiative and WAM Theatre. 10X10on10 is a multi-media theater and visual art exhibition exploring women's lives and inspiration throughout life's decades. The event is part of the 2nd annual 10X10 Upstreet Art Festival. The six performances and opening and closing art receptions will be held at Y Bar in Pittsfield from February 16 - 24.

Grosse Pointe Theatre held the annual Clarence Awards Dinner on June 19th at MacRays Banquet Center in Harrison Township. The award is named for the first show GPT produced in 1948, Clarence, a comedy by Booth Tarkington. Awards went to GPT members from the Pointes and throughout Metro Detroit.
