Those Women Productions has announced two upcoming projects: a staged reading of The Melting Pot by Carol Lashof on April 9 with original music by Erika Oba, and the full production this summer of the rarely performed “cloak and dagger” comedy House of Desires (Los empeños de una casa) by the 17th century Mexican poet, playwright, and theologian, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, translated by Catherine Boyle.

Everyday Inferno Theatre Company is thrilled to announce their production of Carol Lashof's The Melting Pot will play a limited run at The Access Theater in March. The play, directed by Alex Keegan and produced by Ana?s Koivisto and Katherine Sommer, features John Blaylock (The Metropolitan Playhouse), Matt DaSilva (Beauty and the Beast National Tour), Ty Gaines, Maya Jasmin (Manhattan Repertory Theatre), Franz Jones (Big River, Original Broadway production), Isaac Allen Miller, Talia Reich, and Rochelle Slovin (Russian Arts Theatre).

Everyday Inferno Theatre Company is delighted to announce the projected lineup of productions and developmental collaborations for their 2018 season, which launches this month with the fifth annual If on a Winter's Night, an evening of staged readings directed by women and connected by the season's theme, Going Home .

It is chilling to think that The Melting Pot, a play that revolves around anti-Semitism in America and Europe, was first performed in 1908, decades before the atrocity of the Holocaust. The Finborough Theatre production marks the first time in almost 80 years that it has been staged in the UK, with its last production being in 1938 just before World War II.

In a rediscovery commissioned by the Finborough Theatre, The Melting Pot by Israel Zangwill runs at the Finborough Theatre, playing Sunday and Monday evenings and Tuesday matinees from Sunday, 3 December 2017. The classic story of a young Russian immigrant fighting to uphold his dream of a new life in a new country. After his family are massacred in a pogrom, Jewish composer David Quixano escapes to New York City, in search of a new life. There he falls in love with Vera, a beautiful Russian Christian.

Finborough Theatre's final season of 2017 brings together the two strands of our multi-award-winning artistic policy - vibrant new writing and unique rediscoveries - with three plays unseen in the UK for many years, and twelve new plays from the UK, the US and Canada. 

Highlights include a discussion about the history of Jewish Justices on the Supreme Court, a conversation with Jenna Weissman Joselit and Samuel G. Freedman on the Ten Commandments, a talk on Freud and his use of Yiddish from our NEH Senior Scholar Naomi Seidman and a presentation about the "Jewish Territorialist" movement
