Ballet West Launches Children's Enchantment Fund

The company is working with community partners to invite children to see a family friendly production each season. The goal is to bring 1,000 children to see a production. One performance ticket is distributed for every $50 tax-deductible donation.

Inspired by the Brothers Grimm and Perrault fairy tales, world-renowned San Francisco Ballet returns to the Kennedy Center with the visually stunning and magical adaption of Christopher Wheeldon's Cinderella©, October 26-30 for seven performances in the Opera House. Choreographed by the Tony Award® and two-time Olivier Award-winning British choreographer, Wheeldon and his acclaimed creative team bring this imaginative production to the stage featuring a powerful score by Sergei Prokofiev. Co-produced with the Dutch National Ballet, it made its world premiere in Amsterdam on December 13, 2012 and its U.S. premiere on May 3, 2013 with San Francisco Ballet. The Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra will accompany this production, led by conductor Martin West.

SF Ballet has announced that it will return to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. with the Washington, D.C. premiere of Christopher Wheeldon's Cinderella, October 26-30. SF Ballet will present seven performances of the acclaimed, full-length production; the Company last performed at the prestigious venue in November 2012.

San Francisco Ballet kicks off the new cinema series, Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance, with Artistic Director & Principal Choreographer Helgi Tomasson's Romeo & Juliet on September 24 at 7:00pm. Shown at select cinemas nationwide, the screenings will feature the full production in HD, along with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews. SF Ballet Principal Dancers Maria Kochetkova and Davit Karapetyan perform the title roles of Juliet and Romeo, with Company Principal Dancers Pascal Molat, Joseph Walsh, and Luke Ingham performing the roles of Mercutio, Benvolio, and Tybalt, respectively.

New York City Center's 11th annual Fall for Dance Festival will feature free performances in Central Park and 24 acclaimed dance companies and artists from around the world, in six unique programs in September and October 2014. In keeping with the Festival's commitment to make dance accessible to everyone, the Festival will kick off with two FREE evenings of dance at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, in association with The Public Theater, today and tomorrow, September 12 and 13 (rain date, September 14) and will continue at City Center from October 8 - October 19 with all tickets at $15. The Festival's many free pre-show events will include dance lessons and panels by choreographers, artists and dance educators. Tickets will go on sale Sunday, September 14 at 11 a.m.
